Speaking of Laws

As I was doing some research on the “Blue Laws,” I came across some other interesting laws from other places and ancient times. I thought I would share a few of these with you. Have you ever heard of Hammurabi’s Code of Law, which was enacted in 1780 B.C. in Babylon. If a doctor was found guilty of malpractice of any kind, he was sentenced to have his hands chopped off. Oh dear! Also in Babylon, a person could be sentenced to death for giving false testimony. I always think of the term “practicing medicine.” Sometimes, a doctor has to figure out how to treat a patient who has something that the doctor has never dealt with before. Doctors, for the most part, do their best, but as we all know, mistakes are made and malpractice is charged against some doctors. Now, however, the patient has to sign all sorts of papers that protect the doctors against malpractice charges. Some doctors don’t even carry malpractice insurance anymore. Since they make their patients sign all these papers which protects them in advance of their treatment. If something goes wrong, the patient can’t file any charges against the doctor.

It's the lawmakers who should plug such loopholes. People will always find ways to twist laws.

The entire system is twisted, including lawmakers and medical practitioners.

@IreneVincentThen its only the people of US who can do something. Those who are affected can form a committee or organisation to protest against such malpractice.

Cutting off a doctor's hand is extreme but then again those were strange times
