What do you think about "discussions" of just one single line?

I even understand the point of view of those who try to post a topic like that (I don't call it a discussion because I don't think a discussion can be started with just a single line ), but I think it's all very superficial.
So my intention to interact with that topic is practically nonexistent because I see no effort in creations of those types of topics .

I don't respond to most of them. The writer did not put any thought into it, just posting one thing after another hoping to get fabulously wealthy. You have to have an issue to discuss. And it can't be something like, "Religion, what you think?"

I've seen a few one line/very very short posts that turn into amazing discussions.
It often depends on the content, you can say quite a bit in one line, and the attitude of the starter in terms of engaging with responses.

I agree. If the person who writes the post puts enough thought into it, one line may be all that is required. This discussion has inspired me to try to come up with such a post, but I'm not sure I'm up for the challenge. I certainly won't be rushing it.

@Gina145 @Mike197602 One line/very short posts can be great sometimes, I kinda agree. But this rarely happens.

@TheInvisibleMan I agree. I think part of the reason is that it's not easy to write a meaningful one-liner. I haven't been able to come up with one yet.

One line can start a discussion but what we usually see here cannot be called a discussion. Hence they get deleted.

People considered one line as a paragraph now a days. I don't understand it. And why join if you just post a liner and expect tons of reply. Or read a few liners maybe 6 or 10 and say its totally a long post.

I'm sure I could start some serious discussions with a single line, LOL! :) It might get me banned, though. I think the quality of the topic is more important than the number of lines. I do try to post something worthwhile when I start a discussion, though.

@TheInvisibleMan Oh i see.. that is why I am seeing here one line discussions because they are newbies.

@magallon I think for newbies is allowed, but not for a long time.

A one line discussion would just be like a puzzle (the perfect ones also) and i don't think anyone would be interested in solving a puzzle here, because everyone uses this platform to relax and probably I will not be relaxed by a seeing a puzzle in front of me.

@sans224 Without a content... What is the point, right?

If it doesn't interest me, I don't even read them and I look for interesting ones.

There was a guy months ago who used to post very funny/quirky observations and questions and these seemed to spark some amusing discussions but he was an exception and I haven't noticed him around for a while.
For the most part I prefer at least a bit of writing.

Though it might be easy for the author to chuck together a one line discussion I often don't read them. The best discussions are created by authors who take a topic, and elaborate on it with a detailed explanation.
