While Susan's away, kitty will play

I might have mentioned that I have an older cat who has lived with me for a year now; she is 14. I am always buying her toys, which she likes to pretend she is far too cool for when I am watching. (Aside from her "cheese chase" toy, which she will actually play WITH me, to my great delight. This is the round toy with a ball on a track that goes around in a circle. I play with her by sitting across from her and hitting the ball back and forth to her). Any kind of balls or stuffed toys, she will usually just ignore, no matter what I do.
But....somehow when I go out and come home, her favorite little birdie has managed to fly to the other side of the room, or her red and green Christmas ball is wedged into a corner somewhere. Not to mention all the times I have walked out of the room, only to suddenly hear the jingle or chirp of something in the living room. Today I heard it, went and looked, and all of the sudden Montana froze and looked at me like "Who? What? What toy? Nope not me!" Sorry kitty, you're not as "cool" as you think you are.

Montana is your cats name? That is funny your kitty will only play with certain toys when you are not around. She must be so bored then. My cat is 14 and sleeps almost constantly.

Yes, she came with that name.
I wonder if your cat really sleeps all that time or if she's awake when you're asleep. Mine is much more active at night, despite the fact that I keep reading that it is just a myth that cats are nocturnal.

@fluffysue She does wake up at night sometimes and is active but I do notice she sleeps a lot more during the day then she ever used to in her old age.

@shaggin I never had cats before, and Montana was 13 when she came to live with me, so I have no idea what is really normal for cats, or whether she sleeps more than she used to. I do know she seems to sleep most of the day. She does like to sleep in my lap, though, which I love.
