A purpose to liking?

As I new member to the new Mylot I am just wondering if there is a reason behind liking comments and discussions? Is it just a niceness to like something or earning potential behind it? Just curious I tried to find it out looking through discussions but didn't really see anything. Also checked mylot and only really has a bunch of do not dos on it. So is it an earning thing or a courtesy thing?

I see it as a way for people to let someone know you read and liked the post or response, and maybe you can't comment on it for what ever reason. So liking is a good way to go, so see something you like or agree with hit thumbs up.

I know when I am reading a discussion, and I like what someone has said in a comment. I always like there comment because I know that in the future someone will like my comment to. I never thought of it as a way of earning though, just a way of showing appreciation.

I like anything that I can't come up with a good comment for. The only time I don't like something is when it is in violation of the rules. When I browse through the comments others have made in a discussion I will like them or often add to the conversation. It keeps it lively.

I do it to let the discussion/response/comment's posters know and if they earn from what I do then it's even better...

Perhaps it just depends on the person "liking". I do it sometimes to acknowledge it without having to comment all the time. Especially, in facebook groups for accountability reasons, liking is a way to check off a task or something. And ofcourse people just do it because they agree or actually like it.

I was more questioning about mylot in particular, not other social media, but thank you.

In a sense we get paid for interacting which includes liking, etc.

Well you can by the ready likes if its a nonsense comment or post being liked then i guess its for earning purposes only. While for those who really got impressed by the post i guess it deserve a like
