Work conditions may be different in each country. So I am wondering how long for can you take holidays to stay off from work. In Spain, it's usual to have thirty days a year. Here, we usually take twice fifteen days. But, some prefer to take the whole month. Apart from that, we also have fourteen national bank holidays and some local ones depending of each comunity. Is it the same in your country?

I use to be a teacher, so was off all summer. Many of my friends are off a different amount of days depending on the company and how long they have worked there.

So, what are you teaching? Sometimes, I gave some private classes in German, English and Spanish to help some persons to improve their language skills. But, it's not my main job.

@Meramar I am retired now. I taught American Sign Language and Reading. Also did Substitute Teaching, which was interesting, as spent a lot of time teaching the cooking class.

My husband was a teacher so he had summers off, I have mostly worked for myself so when i want a day off I gift it to myself. We are both retired now and still we are working part time but if we want time off we take it.

30 vacation days a year is very good. Many people work up to that much after a few years. Many start with 2 weeks per year after working for a year. There are about 14 Statutory holidays (Bank Holidays)

14 Bank Holidays are great, that's the same here. Usually, you have to work at least six month before you can ask for 14 (holi)days. Some companies also ask you to work through a complete before asking for you first holidays. It depends a bit of the company you work for. But 30 days during a year is normal, even if you work half time. I knew only one company here which said that after the first worked year, you can take two weeks, after the second year three weeks and after the third year you already can take the thirty days.

No, we have fewer days here. I wish I live & work in Spain.

It depends on the place a person works. I know some people can have up to ten vacation days, but some places do not have any or have only a few amount of sick days, not vacation days. or some people have to save up their vacation days just to actually take a vacation.

I really could not imagine a work without any vacations. In that case, you never would be able to travel abroad if you want to visit another place.
