Wall clocks then and now

Every room in our household had either a timepiece or a wall clock. We even had striking wall clocks striking at different times which was kind of odd.
Today we have just two - one is a cuckoo clock that strikes at wrong hours and one that has no pendulum. Both are in the hall hanging on opposite walls.
With mobiles and computers that show us the time we no longer feel the need to have these clocks all over the place with additional work to change the batteries.
I had bought the cuckoo clock directly from the shop where they are made, in Germany. I have stopped the strikes but it shows correct timing. I need to work on those chains every single day.
How many clocks do you have and do you think you need them?

We have several antique clocks, all in working order, mostly for the decor. We bought a cuckoo clock in the Black Forest in Germany. The chains have to be pulled about once a week to keep everything going. It's quiet now, since we're not home. We had to store a pendulum clock that we bought in Austria, since it no longer goes with our decor. I like them more than I need them.

I too got my cuckoo clock from a shop in Black Forest, Germany. I did try to get it repaired but it does not strike right.
Taking care of those antique clocks for them to be in working conditions is lots of work. Who does it for you?
Matching clocks to go with your decor?

@allknowing That shop looks very familiar! Lol! None of our clocks have needed repair, yet. When we bought our cuckoo, we obtained the name of an authorized repairman in our state, just in case we ever need him. Yes, green mable based clocks in our English country room, fancy crystal clocks for the living room, etc. I can't help being a perfectionist

@DianneN I was that way once upon a time. but being a perfectionist is not easy. More power to you if you can handle that.

These cuckoo clocks need careful handling. Our strikes oddly. I have stopped that but it shows correct time.

There are more situations nowadays that alert us it is time for this or time for that (lol)

These days I do not even use a wristwatch any more. My mobile is my timepiece in general, but the time also displays on my music centre, DVD player and computers.
Wall clocks are great ornaments and excellent craftsmanship, but no longer have a practical purpose.

I have my cuckoo clock up more as memory of my trip to Germany and that visit to the place where they were making them. That house has a cuckoo clock on top of othe roof, that chimes with dolls dancing a sight worth experiencing.
We have so many places where time is shown that we no longer need wall clocks save as ornaments.
