If you live in the U.S. do you ever wonder what the rest of the world thinks?

Every Sunday I like to listen to the Voice To America radio show. The host talks to people all over the world about things happening here in America and finds out what they think of current events and America's role in them. I find it very interesting and frequently surprising. Like today, a "voice" in the Middle East expressed understanding about Trump's recent actions regarding immigrants from there. They, too, fear terrorists and have a lot of problems with them. They hate the terrorists and very few support them.
I have also heard criticism of America and sometimes agree with those contributors.
I enjoy hearing different points of view and especially like hearing what people in other countries think of us here in the States. I always learn something interesting. Voice of America is online and you can listen to it live or access its podcasts at voicetoamerica.com. Do you like hearing what people around the world think of your country?

I am an American living in Canada (duel citizenship) and it scares me how crazy he is and no one seems to be inclined to stop him. I am one of millions who want him removed. Did you read the news about his son costing the US 95,000 dollars for a weekend? Crazy stuff and unfortunately Trump lies more than he tell the truth.

@dragon54u I've been watching and looking at what all the real news is saying about him, he scares me, he is not normal... Obama is a kind and gentle man with a brain and the ability to think, speak and understand what is going on around him. Trump is like a bull in a china shop, smashing thing and people because that is what narcissists do.

Ha! I'm sure we all have some misconceptions that are funny to others. Before all the trouble here I thought Middle Eastern women all layed around in genie costumes eating figs. Over the years since the attack I've learned a lot about the culture over there and have come to respect those women and their fight for their rights.

@dragon54u It's amazing to learn about new cultures and how other people live. I am trying to broaden my horizons with travelling. I would like to visit USA one day too, I was thinking California or New York!

I guess this is why I like coming here as well . . . on myLot we do hear from many voices around the world too. It's interesting what the world thinks of us - some things I disagree on - but other stuff, oh yes, I completely agree.

That's what attracted me to myLot years ago, I could get to know others with different cultures and attitudes. I am surprised how similar people are even though we have minor disagreements.

@dragon54u It is quite interesting. I like hearing from the people straight from their own comments rather than reading an article about it . . . we see more how people really think.

No, I was surprised at how people viewed the results of our election. Most approved, saying that we have not been a strong leader on the world stage and that they hope we will be once again now. Our own media tells us that the world hates us yet I hear people on that show--about 75% of them--saying that they feel friendly toward us. The ones who don't like America usually have issues with our government's policies with their country. I get to hear the other side of the issue and so many times I sympathize with them.

It's interesting to hear what other people think, but sometimes I'd rather just hear about other countries. Even when I listen to foreign news, so much seems to be about America that I just want to hear about something completely unrelated.

It's kind of frightening when you think about how much influence the US has on the rest of the world. I bet they get tired of hearing about us!

@dragon54u When I lived in Germany, it seemed they couldn't get enough of our news! I thought I could finally get away from it, but it follows you.

No, we don't.
Friends living in other countries tell us a few things. That is all we need for now.
The USA has always been criticized. When we were younger, many thought we were greedy b/c the USA did not share enough. However, the USA was already shelling out billions yearly to other places.

well, I don't specifically ask people what they think of my country. ...since it is me who has to live in it.
But I realize everyone has opinions...and in the case of India...we have as many problems here as we have positive aspects.
Many people have some preconceived notions about India. ..judgment comes accordingly.
I'm sure America , along with the other countries of the world, have similar problems.
