Stop posting new discussions if you want to reach payout

Only today and tomorrow to reach payout for January.
Are you there yet?
If the answer is 'no' then maybe you are doing soemthing wrong...
Check how many new posts you made this month....
then check whether you commented to everyone who responded on them...
and check whether they came back and left another comment...
and if they did, then did you go back and comment to them again?
You can post 100 new discussions but if no-one responds you will NOT earn.
YOU earn when you engage others and involve them in a conversation, when you get them chatting back and forth, over and over again, just like in a conversation offline.
This month I posted only 20 new posts (and that's more than my average) and have over 3 times the minimum payout. I commented back to every response and then went back and commented again and again...
and many of those discussions are still alive with conversations going on for over a month!
MyLot is NOT about posting new posts.
It is about INTERACTION!
Exchanging opinions, making conversation...
because myLot is a DISCUSSION site!
So you still have two days to go back and chat with everyone on your old posts without making any new ones and you can save those for next month
Good luck!

Well done!
Yes I see that you are not here every day but I see also that you are all over the place too
If only everyone realised that is what is required here, then they would have so much more fun!

@topffer I absolutely agree!
It is just like a conversation offline: we would not greet someone and ask them how they are ... and then go and do the shopping before they answer and then phone them for the answer the following day

@mysdianait Some members are just doing wrong. They post a batch of discussions and they come back the day after to eventually comment back to their responders. They have a hard time to reach the payout, because it is not a good strategy : when we post a discussion, we have to be present to comment back and start a real interaction.

I had to count mine on my profile as I had no idea at all what the total was. I post when I have something to share but next month I will only post two and see what happens.
I can guess that your earnings have dropped due to the fact that there is no internet when you are flying LOL

I've got no discussions at all up at the moment and I made payout with over a dollar extra
At my current rate I make the $5 minimum every other month.
When I posted a couple of my own discussions I made the minimum every month.

There you go! More proof that it is not the number of discussions but the actual discussing that counts and I know that you discuss lots
Just wondering as I typed that... does cussing have anything to do with discussing?

@mysdianait cussing used to have a fair bit to do with my discussing
Not anymore though...think in the last year I've only said one bad word in a discussion...when I woke up the next day it was gone

@sabtraversa I've deleted all mine so I'm back to 0.
To be honest I do always earn more if I post my own discussions...when looking at the earnings on a daily basis it normally at least trebles or quadruples when I post my own discussion.
As far as earnings go the best way, in my opinion, is to post a few of your own discussions each month but do way more responding to other people...and of course keep up with your own received responses
I got rid of my discussions as I was bored of them and I was finding as soon as I responded to someone they'd respond right back to one of my discussions.
I really don't do the response for a response thing

I have no idea but I doubt it. It should be engaging so that others will come back and talk to you some more. The longer the banter goes on then the more we are discussing
Now I am wondering if women or men are better at discussing than men are

@1hopefulman I am an observer and I see both men and women chatting (or gossiping) in shops or at the market but men usually talk about sport while women have many more topics like children, cooking, the soaps on tv and more, so I am not really sure (but I would take a guess though )

Thanks Sabrina for responding to my question. I always wondered about that and I was curious if anybody knows for sure, whether it makes a difference if our comments are short or lengthy. Have a nice day now! (long comment)

@taramarie39 That is a point that I didn't mention as I hoped someone else would - and you did!
When we interact by commenting over and over again with people here we can certainly get to know them much better. I have been here 10 years next April and in that time I have made many friends from all over the world. I feel that I know them as well as I know my offline friends now

Too bad those who really need to read this won't. And if perchance they took the time to read it, they won't apply it to themselves. Besides of their hundred discussions....most of them didn't rate a comment.
It is excellent advice....hopefully at least one or two will apply it.

@Morleyhunt Yes I leave mine first too before reading the others. I don't like to be influenced by what others have said before I post mine. I find it so disappointing though when some never get back to comment. It seems so obvious that they just threw a post up and were not really interested in reading what we thought at all

@mysdianait so true. I try to get back and respond to as many of the responses as possible. There are many though, that are impossible to really turn into any kind of discussion. I've also learned not to read any of the responses until after I've made my response...then I've responded to the other responses as well.
Then there are the days that there is hardly any discussion posted that inspires me to even like them let alone spend the time responding.

More people need to take the time to read this discussion! Some people seem to think they have to post discussion after discussion and they never respond if somebody does respond to them. It all seems like common sense to me but some people just don't get it! I hope they take the time to read this!!

I hope that they do too and that it can help many who are struggling to understnad how things work here. It is so darn simple but maybe holding a conversation is going out of fashion?
Too many never get back and comment when we leave a respionse, even a thoughtful one and that is so disappointing at times.

@Happy2BeMe Yes, they wouldn't do that in an offline conversation surely? Or maybe they would as they would be too busy exchanging messages on their phones Maybe conversation will eventually vanish completely

@mysdianait Yes it would be nice if they would at least acknowledge that they read what we responded to their discussion. What is the point of responding if they are never going to go back and check it or if they have nothing else to say about it?

So true. I like this discussion a lot. I will have to give my 2 cents worth. That is, to say that yea, I have sometimes posted way too many discussions in a short time and thus I have lost track of older ones and failed to really keep the conversations going on older posts. This is one of the best posts I have read this entire year.

Thank you and I am hoping that it can help many of those who are struggling to get the cents to add up and think that they are doing the right thing by posting many new posts every day and then just leaving them hanging there and never getting back to those who participated.
Several have responded here, of those new users who are bewildered and fumbling to understand their way about. I will try next month to see who really understood my message and whether they become 'banterers' or not. I am convinced that some could really have great fun here once they get how it should be used

Certainly but only once in a while not ten times every single day like some are doing!
When you start a conversation offline with a friend, do you pick up your phone in the middle of the conversation and start a call with another friend at the same time? I doubt that happens and that is how it should be here. Get one discussion out of the way and all up to date with the comments and then, and only then, get a new one started
