Seven Sisters Underground and Overground station sits on Seven Sisters Road, north London.
The road gets its name, strangely enough, from seven sisters, who before going their separate ways each planted an Elm tree outside a tavern, in Tottenham. The Elm trees are depicted in the tile work at platform level, in the photo, above.
Behind the station is a train depot, operating from Pleiades House. The Pleiades are a cluster, in the constellation of Taurus, which many people know as the Seven Sisters.
It is all very clever stuff, this naming business!

I have beem on the Underground before but never heard of that name. Probably because I did not travel too far either.
What a lovely name and the Story behind it really interesting thank you for the information there.

Curious minds want to know. Is the tavern still there? How about the seven trees the sisters planted? I see a lot of names that make me wonder how they got their names. None of them come to mind right now.

Both a tube station and a road named after them? They must have really been something!
