The Real Truth About Mylot

I have read several of the posts on how to make it big on here. I can understand that everyone has their own opinions on how it can be done. I have some of those too. Some say that we have to be here when we post so we can get the interactions and answer them right away. I don't see where that is mandatory. We have lives and can't always do that anyway. If you have happened to post during a time when there are people from your friends list on Mylot then that is great and you can certainly take full advantage of their replies right away. But, it isn't a stead fast rule. I personally will sometimes post some things in the evening before I sign off. By morning I have had some responses and those have added nicely to my bank. It is just what works for you. I think that you get just as much this way as posting and waiting for responses at that same time. Don't wait too long though. People do move on. I have learned over the years when it is most active on here and I try to be on at that time. I also try to post something at least every few days. The more you post the more apt you are to get interaction, start conversations with some, and that means $$ will add up in your bank. Just going to the 'Explore' or Follows' options and answering whatever looks interesting can be lucrative. But, I have a list of friends that I pretty much stick with. But, again, there are no rules as to how you do it, just do it. The entire thing about Mylot is interaction. The trick is find a subject that is popular, interesting and that you think most will want to respond to. After some hit and miss you will learn what those are and be well on your way. Each Mylotter has their own style. I have read where many Mylotters can't think of something to say. I think that if they just type about every day things they would do fine. Is it interesting to you? Then probably it is also interesting to some of us. Good movies to watch, health tips, ways to save money, comic relief. The things that make our lives more interesting and full will be welcome here. In the case of newbies-- It may take a while for them to find the best strategy. What to write about and when to post, that sort of thing. The fun thing is that it doesn't matter. Whatever you find works for you works on Mylot. Within reason of course. And there are guidelines and such that will spell out do's and don'ts pretty well. Always a good idea to know what is expected of you. And, don't be nervous about asking Alex if you aren't sure. He doesn't bite. So have fun folks and don't worry about how you go about it.

The only thing I can say is this - myLot is not a site where anyone can 'make it big'....If someone considers $10 or $20 making it big, then their definition is different from mine. I enjoy being here and I do what I can when I can. I like to comment and I also like to post, but found posting only once or twice a day is sufficient for me. What is interesting to one is not necessarily interesting to the masses. I say, write what you enjoy talking about, make it interesting...humor goes a long way.

@JohnRoberts .....If a person isn't happy with a few bucks and doesn't just enjoy posting and interacting then they shouldn't be here.

This is not a site for the delusional thinking they will make the rent check out. We all wish that was so but it isn't so the best approach is enjoy and be happy with a few bucks.

For me it's basically two reasons I like it here, great people and fast acting admins. Not a ton of arguments here either, less nasty people than other sites.

It can be helpful to respond to a discussion while the member concerned is online because it could result in a long interaction. Nevertheless, if someone is interested in making it big then they are on the wrong site.

@celticeagle Not necessarily. They will reply to our response, but if they are currently online it sometimes becomes a very rapid interaction.

I don't think we have to respond while the member concerned is necessarily on the site. We will get the same response regardless.

I agree as that is basically what I have discovered here. The biggest pain is if you are absent a bit and catching up with a zillion notifications and posts but you don't have to if you don't wish to. A person is in complete participation control here.

Being gone you never catch up - and to try to do so makes this more like work - and work isn't something I' interested in doing..this is supposed to be fun.

@AbbyGreenhill sometimes I find exactly that...I've been gone and then feel like I"m not enjoying being here while I'm trying to catch up. Usually I just continue on and stick with the current stuff and eventually I catch up on the older posts, notifications etc

So have fun folks and don't worry about how you go about it. I hope you don't mind but I did just that I love choosing a post and reading all of the responses/comments and leaving something in lots of boxes and then my own response too. Do you mind that? Maybe I should have asked before doing it Too late now though!

well you MIGHT make more if you are on and I am on on, and I respond, then you immed respond back, and we get a back and forth going, those quick interactions means more in a short time, ergo more money. but honestly, these days I am rarely caught up on notifications, so I wouldnt answer right away anyways.

W all have to discover our own way to myLot and find what works best for us. As you said, write and post about what interests you and read and interact on what interests you. I pretty much just wing it as I go along and have some days when I find more time to spend here while other days it's hit or miss. I just try to keep in touch with everyone and do the best I can while juggling real life

@celticeagle I think it would be even better if everyone at myLot had some form of page with avi files like YouTube but it would not be YouTube but rather, a special audio and video page for every single user at this site, who could upload tutorials, personal videos about themselves like a video introduction of sorts. Even some videos of myLotters playing guitar and singing songs or reciting poetry or maybe even telling funny jokes. But if YouTube were the format, myLotters would not get any earnings from sharing them but if we had a page for audio and video uploads we could, in theory, generate more money for this site as well as our own banks. Just a thought.

A good tutorial of sorts on what makes myLot tick. I use some of those methods. Since I don't know when people will be on, I just go with my notifications and respond to them from oldest to newest. Interaction is key to making friends and moving the bank.

Well, I think a time stamp would be better than an estimated number of minutes or hours since the last comment. If you don't actually know the time of the first comment, then you have no actual way of knowing how recent the last comment was posted. Time stamping every comment to the exact time and date would be better than just 1h or 52 m.

Yes you can... if others then comment on what you said. We earn nothing on here for what WE do. All the earnings are for how others react to our discussions, responses and comments. I am not earning for what I am typing here. YOU are earning for it
