I will make the first move then you can make the next and we can play a game on myLot. Okay, I will do this.
First move, for white, Pawn to King Four.
Second move, for black: Pawn to King Four. Center control.
Third move, for white: I guess I will go with Knight to Queen's Bishop Three.
Forth move, for black: Bishops Pawn defends King's Pawn at Black's Pawn To King's Bishop 3.

@Plethos Yea. Make your own. I once had to resort to using pennies for pawns, quarters for rooks, dimes for bishops, susan b for queen and Kennedy half for king and nickels for knights. I think that will work then you use nail polish to paint the one set one color to distinguish between opposites. Also, a checker board, folding type is exactly same as chessboard using 64 squares of alternate colors. Position 8 pawns on second row, from left to right on white side, rook knight, bishop, king, queen, bishop, knight, rook and queen on queen's color. All set?

I like to play chess but sadly can't play online. It just isn't the same when you aren't playing with actual chess pieces.

I keep a chess set ready near my PC in my man cave. It is a nice wood set I picked up long ago about 30 years ago to be exact.

You might learn to enjoy a few games. It is a game you can play solo or against another player. The basics of chess are easy for anyone to learn and it helps pass the time.

Better you do admit this and I believe the first few opening moves are some of the more important moves that many take a long time to make. Speed chess on the other hand is somewhat reckless. I have seen some pretty smart chess players goof up a lot playing speed chess, same as good drivers speeding on the highways. Bad outcomes from both.

Well, there might be someone who is willing to make the next move. I am not a chess master. I am an intermediate level player who has not actually played the game for many years. I still have a chess set with the pieces on the board. I made one move and now it's a stale mate. lol

So you placed your black pawn in front of mine. Cool. Good start. Your pawn at your king 4. I don't play this way much and am a bit rusty but if I am right you are keeping control of your center.

@lookatdesktop yep in English notation it would be pawn to king four (pk4) I used algebraic notation. Yes it gains center space. Usually in the openings it's a fight over control of the center
