Year of the Rooster

Being year of the rooster my thoughts go to our pet rooster Gamma who lived with us for 12 years. He became a part of the family doing things that contributed to his endearing presence around.
He and Preiti had a great bonding. They would stroll together in the garden and spend time together. He was more fond of our maid than me. He would even climb up and sit on her books while she was studying.
Gamma died of old age living behind indelible memories.

We had 5 of them and we named them all. Gamma lived the longest. He sang throughout the day (lol) I have any video clips on him and here is a short one

But we decided never more to have them as pets as when they are old they too suffer just like us. They too get arhtritis and also their comb grows too long and comes in the way of food

@allknowing ..Aw..you are sensitive...but 12 years is a fairly long life ...who would not want a pet living that long.

A pet rooster how unusual. My husband and I don't have pets, we are not fond of animals in the house. Most of my brothers and sisters however love their pets, I love their pets too but don't have to take care of them or live with them.

Chickens can be so fun to watch. Sounds as if Gamma had a good life.

I have never had a pet rooster. In fact the only rooster we had as a child was aggressive and would try to peck our heels and chase us.

Gamma was like a watchman around. He would alert us each time he saw someone and that included reptiles. He had a particular crow.
