Long or Short Hair?

I have had long hair my entire life. My hair has never been cut above the shoulders until December of 2016. I was tired of dealing with it and I had it cut off above my shoulders. I was so worried that I would look horrible in it. In reality, I think I look great. I most certainly enjoy the lighter feel of it. Thank goodness it worked out for me. Now I just need to dye it again. I am thinking of going with a light brown instead of a blond this time.
What about you? Short hair or long hair? How is your's cut?

I have naturally curly hair and have most of my life worn it short as it's so much easier to take care of. When it's long it's unruly much of the time. I am dying mine blond today as I just got it cut on Monday. I love my hair short.

I had short hair on and off for years. I also have curly hair but I straighten mine .If I don't do nothing to my hair it looks like an afro gone bad

@fishtiger58 I was the same way when mine was short just finger combed it.
My boyfriend wants my hair long when he met me it was short and he did not like it.

@Tina30219 Mine does too, but having it short helps a bit with that. I also have not combed or brushed my hair in probably 40 years, that just makes it more frizzy. I have to wet it down every day and finger brush it into place. Because of my not combing or brushing when I had kids I had to learn how to use a comb and brush again. Mostly though my hubby did the boys hair

@Shellyann36 I prefer it down but a lot of times it bugs me in my face so I pull it back with an elastic hair tie. Like a very low loose pony tail. It doesn't look very good that way though.

@shaggin I know that feeling. I hate that loose flyaway hair feeling. Mine likes to get caught in my glasses and it drives me crazy. I constantly kept my hair in a ponytail or one of those clips when it was longer.

My hair is almost to my waist again and I am getting tired of it. I am starting to get headaches all the time and I think it is caused from the weight of it. That happened to me many years ago. Once I cut it the headaches went away. My son said that he would cut it for me and I do trust him. He is real touchy about hair being crocked.

@velvet53 I would get it cut short enough to be rid of the headaches! My sister has really thick hair and she keeps it long. She is constantly complaining of headaches from hers.

I had it cut short the last time I went to get it cut which was almost a year ago but now I'm just letting it grow, I figure if I it needs to be cut shorter I will try to do it myself.
Then when I'm sick of the mess I made of it I will go to a hair dresser.

It's about shoulder length @Shellyann36 but I have thin wimpy hair so I'll probably cut is short again.
Those kritters could care less what I look like as long as I feed them.

@LadyDuck I kept mine at shoulder length for a long time but I was so happy after the cut in December. I never see myself having long hair again. Is yours all one length or do you have bangs?

When I got up this morning, my hair was long—long enough I had to pull it out of the back of my pants when I got dressed. Now, it hangs over my shoulders. Oh, it's so much better.
At the hair salon, the cosmetician laid out the first cut on the counter, ponytail-style. It was about a foot long. And it feels so much better.
It occurred to me later that I should have asked my husband to take before and after pics.

@Shellyann36 I really wish I'd thought of it before I'd cut it. Oh, well. And yes, it feels to much better. So much easier to brush and wash. I imagine I'll save a small fortune in conditioner as well.

Mine needs another cutting. I go back and forth.. I grow it out and get tired of it and chop it off, then grow it out again. It only looks bad when I cut it really short.. Right now it's just past my shoulders, and already bugging the heck out of me. I'm not sure if I want to just get a trim, or if i should cut a few inches off.

@Shellyann36 right now I'm just learning towards a trim.. I will decide later if I want to change my style. I always wear it up anyway. I hate the feeling of having it on my face or neck.

@katsmeow1213 honestly, when mine is long it feels so icky. I always wear it up anyway. With shorter hair, it is not as hot and the lighter feeling is great. Let us know what you decide to do.

@Tina30219 I cannot imagine having longer hair that is so curly. My friend takes so long to fix hers every day its amazing she gets anything done. I can be showered, dressed, hair done and ready to go before she even gets her hair done.

I wear my hair on the long side, at the shoulders or below. I do have curly hair though that means I need to grow it longer to keep it at the shoulders.

@BellStarr My hair does curl up as well. They are soft manageable curls at the ends but not curly near the tops.

The funny thing about hair is, the complicated part is often the top of the head and the sides. Cutting in short in the back does not always give a better look.

@PatZAnthony this is true. I have found that I need bangs. If I don't have bangs I think I look horrible. I also always get mine cut in layers.

@JudyEv It has been a long time since I wore a headband. For some reason, they give me headaches. My husband jokingly tells me that it's because I have a big head.

@Shellyann36 I just wear it long. I wear a head-band to keep it off my face. If it is very hot, I might put it into two pigtails or ponytails which is cooler.

@HazySue when you first got yours cut did you feel so free all of a sudden? I know I sure did. I felt as if at least 10 pounds had been taken off of my head/shoulders.

@HazySue After mine was cut and the stylist whirled my chair around for me to look into the mirror, I was shocked at how much I look like my mama!

February 2016 was the first time I had my hair to my shoulders since I was a little girl. I thought it would be nice and grown back out by summer.. nope. I ended up regretting it days later and it didnt start growing back til basically november.

I've had very long hair from childhood till now. May be once or twice I cut them. I folllow a dressing style that's more of Indian tradition and I think long hair is a perfect choice for me.

@PainsOnSlate I can see where I will probably have to get mine cut every other month now. It has been over a month and it is starting to get longer again. I like the pixie look!

@just4him I have seen over the years that as I age my hair ages also. I think I am going to keep mine short from now on. It feels so much more comfortable to me.

I prefer long hair, but since it is very hot in my country, I cut my hair. My hair is not long. My haircut is a U -cut.
