Feast or Famine

i'm sure you've heard the term, feast or famine, which to me means everything happens at once or not.
Today my granddaughter will be competing in figure skating in Lake Placid, NY. I'm a nervous wreck.
Our new air conditioner stopped working in the middle of the night. The man who installed that costly beast will be here to look at it today. My husband had to cancel therapy to be here for him.
Meanwhile, I will drive to the airport to pick up my brother. He will stay in his condo and has invited a friend to join him for the week.
Two hours later, I have to drive to the airport, once again, to pick up my nephew, my brother's son and his girlfriend. They will be my houseguests, since my brother's friend will be using his guest room. They will be here for the weekend, then are going to Miami and Key West.
So, it's literally feast time for me. We will be eating dinners out, breakfasts on the ocean, sunbathing at the pool, cocktails galore, and figure skating video watching. Hopefully, the air conditioning will be working.
If you don't see me much, you'll know where I am.

@DianneN It reminds me of my neighbour. She had come down for a holiday to here mother's last year and there was never a day she did not have visitors. This year she came down and took her mother for a vacation. to a quiet place

@allknowing It was like that our first year here. Crazy with visitors. It's exhausting and expensive.

I'm just a few hours south of Lake Placid!
Still wishing I could be your house guest for a few days.. ah if only I could afford the flight down...
Maybe next year?
Enjoy the company! Hope your granddaughter does well!

I hope the man coming to look at the air conditioner is able to fix it and doesn't have to wait on any parts. If it is not no one wants to suffer in the heat! Bad timing for it to stop working when you are expecting company. Have a wonderful time and good luck to your granddaughter as well in her competitions.

@DianneN Glad to hear she did so well . . . you and all the family must be so proud of her!! I know no test and free skate, but not sure what first test free skate is. Pre-preliminary or preparation to be in that level? 4th out of 10 - that is really good especially being in with a group of advanced skaters. Way to go .

Thank you. She did very well and a beautiful performance in her first test free skate. I don't know what that means, but she came in 4 out of 10. Her coaches put her in a group of more advanced skaters to have her get a taste of real competition. Whatever. She still did very well and even the coaches were proud.

Busy busy busy. I have heard that people are often busier after they retire.. Guess that is true in your case.
Have a great time!

Thank you! She did very well for her first test free skate. She came in 4 out of 10. She was placed with much more advanced skaters to give her a lesson in true competition. Her coaches think she's too cocky over all her first and second place wins. She proved a lot today. Great skate!
There is something wrong with the compressor. They will give us a whole new unit.
Hope you enjoyed your time with your daughter's!
