This is a very interesting, yet fun adventure.
I have learned very basic, meet and greet conversation within a few days just from watching a couple videos on YouTube.
I have always wanted to learn sign language because it is such a beautiful language to me, and very unique where I live.
They do not hold classes anywhere near where I live, and there is no one around here that knows ASL so my options are very limited, but I am excited to keep learning the best that I can!
Does anyone here know ASL or have ever wanted to learn?

I think that's excellent though. Wouldn't it be neat to communicate with more people just on a regular basis?

@jhechorain It would be! I'm thinking about becoming an interpreter, but I am far from being qualified for now. Just an idea, but it might be worth looking into later on down the line after we move.

My ex-husband knew ASL. His baby sister was deaf and went to a special school in NY. Over the years I have wanted to learn as well but never had the time. I will have to look up videos on YouTube. Isn't the internet amazing!

Definitely!
That's really neat, his sister was very lucky to have that opportunity for a school.

I had American Sign Language in school from an early age and taught class to elementery students for a year. The school could no longer afford a teacher, so I ended up leaving the school. It was a fun position and was great to see the excitement in the class.

No, there are no classes anywhere near my area.
I tried learning from a book, but I need hands-on learning because it's easier for me.
The only way I've been learning is just watching videos online.
I wish they had classes in my area though because it would be much easier.

There was i time where i tried to learn ASL. I also think it is a beautiful language.
There are some folks here that go to my local store that speak sign language, they are brother and sister and are both deaf and mute. I love seeing them talk to each other with sign language. It is a beauty how just our hands can have a whole conversation.
When i was trying to learn (stopped because i am a lazy person) i did find out that there are "accents in ASL also. The ways you move your hands can tell you where that peron is from. That is somethng i found very interesting.

@AnnaAutopsy That is true. And the more interested we are in looking something up, the more things that we will discover on our own and learn in a fun matter.

You can watch tutor videos on sign language on YouTube, or contact someone online to do video sessions with you to tutor you

I think that is neat. I want to learn a new language but always get diswayed because I can't keep up with doing it. The internet can teach us a lot these days. Keep it up
