Why Pay So Much?

Yesterday when we went grocery shopping for our monthly groceries and we saw heaps of people loading up on stuff for their super bowl parties. It was even more than what some of the holidays would be spent on! It was, to me, a little ridiculous. I can understand the gathering and the enjoyment. I just don't understand the amount that these people were willing to spend on food for just one day of enjoyment. Talk about over indulgence. I suppose it isn't any of my business though and I shouldn't judge. I apologize.

They may be throwing big Super Bowl parties at their homes, so they may need to stock up to have enough food/drinks for all their guests. The Super Bowl has become such a big event in our country that I'm surprised it hasn't been made into a national holiday! haha

Yes, I realize. I just thought it was a little extensive but maybe they do have a lot of guests.

It's nothing I would do at least at this point in life. Mostly cause I am not social. Perhaps if I had friends and money to do so I would too. I bet they are having a good time, so that's good.

@jhechorain Some people just naturally like to host parties; some like the attention; and some just like to socialize. There are many reasons why people do the things they do, but if they want to spend all that money on a Super Bowl party, then that's their prerogative!

I noticed a bunch of stores had their Super Bowl food displays going on this past week. Our house isn't into it, but I know some people have huge parties over it (I think a couple of our neighbors must be having parties - lots of cars parked in the street). I guess having food is a huge thing (what else is there to do while watching tv ). Out here people can go real overboard with their parties.

@jhechorain I only watch the commercials and the half time show. No parties for us though . . . we just ate like normal .

I kind of miss the commercials but that is about it.

I suppose it's up to them if they want that big party. I know a lot of people enjoy to gather for this occasion. I might if I had friends. Although I don't really care for football any more, so, maybe not.

I guess it depends how many people are sharing the food.

Yes there is probably a decent gathering for this event.

That is okay. I agree with you that the Super Bowl is just a football game that in my opinion is if the Nausea Football League would meet the beauty pageants of today. The Nausea Football League just likes to hype a football game with people that I do not care to see on television anyway.

I used to like to watch it. I have out grown it now I guess? I agree with you.

@jhechorain Me too. I remember before there was cable television when they were not the hoopla over a football game.

yeah, thats true..But we only live once..so live it up and have fun with family and friends..Some people don't see each other alot, so they get together for these functions..Personally, my husband's team isnt playing this year- or I would have thrown him a party..

Yes, quite true. Life is short so we should enjoy any moment we can with the one's we love. We might as well enjoy and give as much as we can when we have the opportunity.

I have nothing against as long as there is money left.

True, I suppose it doesn't matter if they still have for what they need.

We wonder about some items we see people spend money on too. It seems almost any event is an excuse to overdo it these days.
