Is it my fault if I belong to SC category..

February 6, 2017 2:45am CST
I belong to SC scheduled caste category middle class family... I did not had any problem with this fact until I started interacting the outer world and the thinking of the people from other caste.. I don't make so many friends because when they come to know my caste they make fun of it... I am not in favor of reservation but I suffer from lots of torture as many ... According to some we don't deserve anything good in our life like good job good lifestyle... We don't have permission to enter some religious places in India as we are gloomy according to them... I am Indian but unfortunately India is divided into different parts based on casteism...

Its segregation but instead of it being separated by race its by class. It happens everywhere. Here in the states we have that too. There are people who make more money and that money allows them to do things that others can not and there for it separates them and causes problems down the road. You just have to brush it off and find like minded people who don't care about those things. Most people have these things drilled into them from an early age and its hard to make them see that it doesn't have to be that way.

Very Correct.Ostracism is everywhere and has been there since time immemorial and also no where to go ever.Class topper does not mix up with back benchers. Handsome marries beautiful.Star performer sermons non performer. Everyone has faced one or different kind of group-ism.If some one calls you by your caste you call him/her caste.Gandhi faced it,Martin Luther king faced ,Karna of mahabharat faced it .Still they are legend in History. If some one calls you by caste you call him/her caste and settle the score.

@preetisagar Well my friend and this is where I am going to share with you somethings I learned a long time ago. You don't need to go anywhere to worship you can do that from anywhere anytime.Your status doesn't define you. People who love and respect you won't care about any of the outdated nonsense and love you based on your person your actions and not a label.Happiness is a choice and peace of mind and soul is priceless. So its your life and maybe its time that you start to live it how you want be happy and we take back power by not feeding the ugly beast of ignorance anymore by letting this affect your life negatively. We have classes here it depends how you determine them. By wealth education and or financial status. I feel every class has 3 levels. Like theres poor, comfortable and rich in general.White collar,Blue collar, Pink collar. For me personally I think there are more 3 levels in each of those. Piss Poor,Dirt poor and Poor. Simple break down piss poor homeless people. Dirt poor people who are needing government aid. Poor people who work but making low wages due to lack of education often working two jobs. I am considered to be poor to those who have 6 figure bank accounts. I am not poor enough to those who I came up with whom we have surpassed financially. I consider myself to fall in a lower middle class. 50-60k range not born from money but have made enough to live comfortably. However The people we choose to be in our lives don't find any of it relevant to them I am just Robert, nice guy who works hard and tries to be a decent human being.

@Robert @lokisdad Hi Robert You are right. but when this caste system affects our personal life it becomes really hard to ignore.. we cant worship in some temples.. we cant marry to another caste.. I am working in an IT company and there is not a even single person of my caste.. and i am shocked that this generation also believes in this caste system.. they still call us by our caste..

Behan Preeti, some north Indians are humiliated in Maharashtra ,though some highly respected there. Majority in one place does excess on Minority but are vulnerable at place where they themselves are minority.White despise blacks.Whites are avenged at some other place. But moneyed Man/woman are respected everywhere irrespective of cast creed and religion.I do not think Mayaawati could have been prevented to enter temple,if she, in any chance, were dared to ,then that fake ,shallow priest would have paid such a high price that even his community had not dared come to his rescue. The temple where they wished to worship and obstructed is actually not the temple rather it is a shop and the priest is shopkeeper. This can be dealt with law, meanwhile you can say to them 'GO to Hell'

@siddhartha @suripunj (37) Among state schools, 88% discriminated against Dalit children, while 79% required Dalit students to sit in the back of the classroom. In 79% of schools, Dalit children are forbidden from touching mid-day meals. They are required to sit separately at lunch in 35% of schools, and are required to eat with specially marked plates in 28%. In high schools, higher caste students are often advised not to mingle with Dalits. There have been incidents of Dalit teachers and professors being discriminated against and harassed by authorities, upper castes colleagues as well as upper caste students in different education institutes of India. do you want to say anything ?

@preetisagar It is sorry state of affairs if it still exists. May be I am not aware about such facts. Currently I live in a metro city where no one knows about caste of the people resides near you.

Caste system. Apartheid. Segregation. There is no such thing as separate but equal. That crap was tried in America. It doesn't work! WHY? Because you can't have a system, a law, a built-in prejuduce against a group of people that draws a line of division and unequalizes them and then say: Everybody's humans rights are respected. You can't respect somebody and trample on them at the same time. When you disrepect another human being, it's because you think they're less than you, they're dirt and you can step on them!! If you have a means of permitting, allowing or approving that inequality, divisiveness and oppression by say … a government, a religion, or some other “formal”, “legalized”, “institution” … Caste system. Apartheid. Segregation. … you are justifying a way to sit on top of a fellow human being and hold them down all their life! It's wrong!!

@preetisagar - I totally get it. But I'm not in India. SO I have to use my points of reference. We have the Civil Rights Acts in the USA. Discrimination is illegal. But that law didn't stop racism and people are still racists. The word "caste" should not even exist. However, since it does and you say the government "took many steps" ... does that mean they enacted a law? If so, that means people who violate that law should be taken to court. A fair verdict, judgment and penalty will have to be publicized so that others will know the same can happen to them if they don't stop discriminating! Why have a law for the good of all the people, if it's not going to be enforced when some of the people are being aggressively and egregiously violated? It's not right.

@cmoneyspinner @cmoneyspinner Hi The problem is not with the system the problem is with the mentality of the people or i can say educated but still illitrate people...!! The govt of India took many steps to end this discrimination and i really appreciate that.. but the population of India .. you wouldn't believe that they have divided the fields / professions based on caste if a person is sweeper or shoemaker or from a profession something like this .. that means he is from lower caste ..

I'm English so we don't have the caste system here. We do still have "classes" but they are disappearing fast. It's mostly about ability here...no matter where you come from you can get ahead according to your ability. I said mostly as it isn't always the case

Hi Mike Then i can say you are really lucky.. In India people are educated but their thinking is still the same .. they believe in God but they have divided God also as god for lower community or caste people and God for Higher community or caste people.. In some areas like UP/Jharkhand in India , people belong to low caste cant even sit with high caste .. cant eat with them ... People are not recognized by their work or by their ability they are recognized by their caste..

This is very wrong if anyone behave like this. We are humans first. For those who think like this, they should raise their standards and thinking.
6 Feb 17
they should raise their thinking ..standard will be automatically raised.. thanks for your views

unfortunately in some part of country , this is the truth. but dont accept it. fight against it. dont think you are below somebody. god is everywhere. if somebidy not permit you in temples, its there foolishness and you cannot find god there. keep your head up. dont forget that we have a prime minister who is not from an upper caste , we had a president from the sc.

It's sad to hear that ...you are facing casteism...i would ask you to raise your voice against this... I do not know about what the government can do..but i would say..."one needs to protect his own rights by oneself" if you are being deprived of the fundamental freedom..raise your voice against it... let's see ... who stops you!!!! your friends are not worth to be called friends...they are so narrow-minded... I ,too, belong from India, north east...Assam.. but here.. I have not seen so much of differences...of course...some sort of discrimination exists in the rural area...but it's not so severe....in my place...people are respected much...especially the girls.. and ladies..whether it is an shop or any other public place..people here use the term "Baideo" which means "respected madam" for the female class... I am proud to be born in Assam....India...
