~I Don't Usually But~

Shoes I Want

I don't usually spend any money on myself, I have children and they come first. Last time we got paid from MyLot I got the kids some things they wanted off of Wish. I told them next time it is my turn to get something for me. I need new sneakers badly and I found the cutest pair that I LOVE! So, that is what I'm getting. I'm hoping I won't feel too guilty getting these sneakers since I got the kids something before myself... The sneakers are $15 which isn't bad since at the stores sneakers cost more than that. Do you feel guilty when you spend on yourself?

@LovingMyBabies If you have holes in your sneakers you waited too long to get a new pair. I'm certain your kids have what they need! You deserve to take care of yourself.

What is it about mom's that makes them feel guilty when they do something for themselves? I rarely buy anything for myself either.

@celticeagle yes but we should learn to loe ourselves so we c an know how to love other s and buying needed items for self is loving oneself so we can love others this is Christs teaching not mine.

Ohhhh - those are really cute! Well I'm glad you got something for yourself . . . you do so much for your family and others . . . you deserve to treat yourself! But I know what you mean . . . I do feel guilty when I splurge on myself . . . but it's not like I do it all the time . . . we just have to convince ourselves it's ok to be good to ourselves when we can .

@LovingMyBabies You know what, I just went to this "mindful parenting" workshop at school just this morning . . . and the folks running it were all about us parents taking care of ourselves first . . . that we have needs and wants and feelings too - and that's ok!

@much2say Thanks I love them too! =) I didn't get them yet but I'm planning on it once we get paid from MyLot. Thank you, my husband tells me the same thing. He always tells me if I need something to get it but that's hard for me!

They are sweet. You deserve them. I know how you feel though. I always felt guilty if I bought myself stuff. As a mom we always put ourselves last. There is no reason to feel guilty for treating ourselves but we always do.

@Happy2beme Thanks, I think their so cute! Yeah I feel guilty whenever I buy myself anything. It drives my husband crazy, he's always telling me if I need something to get it. I usually do without though instead.

I have a tendency to feel guilty too but we have to learn to get over it. I think that you MORE THAN deserve to treat yourself Jennifer! Besides, your new shoes will make you feel so good that you will do your work twice as fast!

@LadyDuck Yeah the money I make here gets split up. One time it will be for the kids, the next time it will be for my husband or myself.

I worked for 35 years...there is no way I would feel guilty spending money. But you have to remember, I am in a totally different financial situation than you - but still spending a lousy 15 bucks on yourself should not make you feel guilty. You work hard taking care of your family.

When you have children, not spending anything on yourself is a very hard habit to break. Ours have left home and I still have to have my arm severely twisted by Mrs WorDazza to spend anything on myself. I desperately need a new pair of football trainers but every week I look at them and think that I'll get another few games out of them. I'll probably still be saying that when they've fallen off my feet mid-game.

@WorDazza Yeah, every time I feel bad no matter how much I need whatever it is. I didn't get maternity clothes for myself this pregnancy-I just used comfy pants instead because I didn't want to spend so much, their expensive! Lol, I know the feeling. My shoes are coming apart and you can see my toes at the top. Lol.

Since we are retired, with an okay income, plus my very part time job, we are okay, but tend to do splurges on things we both like (dinners out and tickets to events). We take care of personal needs too, like shoes and clothing. You deserve things too. You work hard taking care of everyone.

yes its always like that when you have kids. when i was a caregiver, i worked once for a lady that used to show me all her diamonds and expensive jewelry and say "if i had any children these i would not have. this or that would be a college education or a car, etc." lol

I raised six children and I worked forty hours a week plus extra jobs all for them. So when I had extra money I got . I did get something that I needed for myself. After all from my oldest to my youngest I raised kids for forty years. You and your husband deserve something once in awhile. You both work hard for your money. Watching kids is a job for you are going all day long taking care of kids is no easy job.

Please don't feel guilty, you need shoes, and I know that your children and their needs come first. We've always had enough around here, not a lot extra, so no need for feeling bad one of us had more then the next because it didn't happen.
