Is jobless as bad as useless

I have taken a break after 8 years of neck breaking work. It's funny how in the past 8 years I could think of all the wonderful things I could do being at home and now nothing makes me feel as productive as job used to. Being workaholic for long reprogramms you and you can't detach yourself from work it seems.

Sometimes you need a little something to fill up your time. A hobby in a sense. Something you can look forward to

I am trying to read as much as possible, stacking up on classics as they are best absorbed when you have lot of time

Find something to do to keep you occupy..
I'm in the same situation here. I've been working all my life. Even though I only stay home for that last few months and I have a lot to do with my times, yet I just want to go back to work... Apart from seeing my family I want to see my friends at work as well...
Take care... Be strong.

Thanks for your wishes , I need to be strong. And thanks for putting up that "need to see friends" . I really miss living with friends , its like living with your therapist, the privilege of pouring your heart out without being judged. And ofcourse you can travel , party , drink and do utter nonsense with only your friends.

I seem to spend most of my time flitting from one thing to another, whether it's my own varied work schedule or my children's activities, and wishing if only I could have a day off. Then I have time to myself and, although I have lots of things I could be doing, I don't know what to do with myself!
Having a break from working isn't the same as useless. I've had plenty of periods of unemployment but I have also been a mum for 17 years so it's not as if I had nothing to do during the times I was out of work!
I don't think it matters what you do, it's difficult to not do it, or to break a routine. There are times when I've made plans to do set things on set days and then something changes eg. a client cancels a job or a friend rearranges an activity. Then I'm all muddled up for the day and can't focus on doing anything else, even though I've suddenly got the time for it!

@amateurhuman Yes, I think that is true. We get into a routine and we're not sure how to get out of it or how to adapt to change.

It's mostly becoz we become slaves to our habits ,jobs or no jobs , and then just resist change

We are so time starved that we don't know what to do with it when we get it in abundance all of a sudden

Mylot has actually been very helpful. Even introverts need to pour their heart out at times.

You could be of use even when you are jobless but a useless person is just simply that " useless"

@amateurhuman useless people hang around doing nothing and much worst is sometimes they find ways that is not beneficial or harmful to themselves and others, totally useless.

I miss my workplace now as I'm in my maternity leave. I was feeling for a while but then thought no use in wasting the present life so I'm just focusing on current happenings. Now that I'm concentrating on my baby girl my time just flies away.
I'm sure once I rejoin I won't get these period back. So I advise you to pick a hobby and enjoy doing that ..
