DIY Vanity Desk

I have been wanting a vanity table for some time now but muying one comes out to be expensive. I have found out that there is a piece of furniture that i have that my mom doesnt actually want and it is almost like a pallet. So my plan is to dismantel that "pallet" piece i have and make out my own vanity desk. I need to take it apart to see how much wood i have to start designing the piece i want to make. In the future i plan to make a mirror with light so i can do my makeup in good lighting also. Do you think this is a good idea? Do you have a vanity (desk for all you makeup and where you apply your makeup)? Or have you done some other sort of DIY project?
