This is who I mean

Exactly. This is who I inquire about when I call the Veterinarian's office and say: "Hello! This is Leah's Mom. How is she doing?" The report this morning: "Doing fine. Yes she has had breakfast. She is a hard one about the e-collar." This is Leah's first morning after a major leg surgery. The doc and his helpers insist on putting a clear plastic cone on the dog's head to keep them from ripping out the stitches that the doc carefully sewed in. Telling me that Leah is giving them trouble tells me that she is hearty and doing well. I came away cheered as I wished her nurses and doc good luck at making her behave.

Sounds like she is doing well. When Ruby had surgery a year ago on her paw we had to make her wear one for two weeks...we told her 'leave it alone' and she didn't bother it or try to get if off. She wasn't happy but she listened. Tell her Ruby sends lab kisses!

Poor Ruby looks so tiny in that big, mean cone, @abbyGreenhill. Kisses back, Ms. Ruby.

@sallypup well as a puppy he chewed on everything, including the x's beard. the X woke up with nibbler idly chewing on his beard in his sleep, name was chosen that second lol

@Jessicalynnt I love the name Nibbler. Thinking about Leah messing up the surgery gives me the shivers.

Dogs must hate those collars. They would have no idea why they should have to wear them.

@JudyEv Agreed. I'm wondering how much sedation Leah actually got though you are right, she would have no idea first of all why her leg felt weird and horribly ouchy let alone plastic around her head??

@JudyEv Agreed. Both our pups are used to working with humans. I don't know if it matters to the Vet helpers that Leah knows words like up! and sit! and down! and stand! She knows to work with humans and that humans are a team with her. She is used to humans saying things and understanding those words. (Don't say "car ride" in my house unless you are ready for a dog explosion.

@sallypup Pets sometimes have to put a lot of trust in their humans.
