A senseless death? Or a miracle?

As I was walking up my outside stairs this morning, I heard a muted explosion just to the Southeast of me. I must have intuited somehow that it was electrical in nature, because my eyes immediately went to the electrical transformer (or whatever it is) on the wooden power pole behind the carports for our apartment complex.
Then I looked down the pole and saw something sad. A young squirrel was lying upside down on the roof of the carport, twitching. But he wasn't smoking, and he wasn't torn open. He must have gone over a familiar route, not knowing that water conducts electricity, and electrocuted himself. I started thinking, "You can make it, little guy!" when he managed to roll over onto his stomach (that's when I snapped the picture), but he then lay still. I assumed he had gone to squirrel heaven.
I sat at my desk, feeling depressed, but when I looked back over at the spot where he'd fallen, he was gone! I went outside to investigate, and found him trying to climb the power pole from which he'd fallen. His progress was slow, and his body was still twitching, but he was trying. When I'd view him from one side of the pole, he'd move to the other, as squirrels are supposed to do.
I went back in side and got may camera again. If this post receives any comments, I'll attach a picture of him climbing (if the picture on comments bug is fixed). I scolded him in squirrel language as best as I could. I wanted him to know that he was going back into the danger zone.
The last I saw of him, he had made it to the lowest wooden ledge on the power pole (telephone wires, I think), and was looking right at me. I went inside and got some wild bird seed, which I placed on the fence in plain sight from where he was perched.
I wonder if he'll make it.

Poor fellow! I'm glad that he met someone who speaks squirrel language that was able to give him some good advice. You did all you could. Now the rest is up to him! I'm cheering for him!

@TheHorse Someone, who knows squirrel language, should warn them to be out on the lines in rain..

@buenavida He should have come and consulted with me over seeds and coffee on my balcony before going out on a wire like that.

Poor little guy! I wish we could bury all our cables and wires in pipes somehow because they are such a danger and also they are so ugly. I'm glad he made it and I hope he suffers no ill effects.

I bet he will. If a squirrel can stay out in the snow and sleet he can make it.

God bless that squirrel. So glad for him. If he had that energy I am sure he will make it. Like the Energizer Bunny that takes a licking but keeps on going and going and going

I hope he learns his lesson and remembers not cross anything wet and get zapped again. I touched a live wire when I was in high school enough to raise all the hairs over my body. Not a very good experience. I thought I was done for a minute.

I'm surprised that the electric jolt didn't kill him @TheHorse but then on the other hand, it may have been enough to have temporarily stopped his heart but the electricity going through his body may have been enough to 're-charge' him; kinda like electric CPR. Poor baby, I hope he's okay. You would think they would be able to 'feel' the electricity going through the wires from a distance and that would be enough to deter them.

The last I saw, he was sitting looking at me (I'd like to believe he was thanking me for encouraging him and then scolding him) from the cross-piece you can barely see in this photo. I think those are only telephone wires. The electrical ones are higher up.
