Are You Really God's Favorite????

A person trying to convert me to their religion told me that to be a child of God one had to believe in God, follow their holy book and believe everything that holy book says. According to this person not everyone is a child of God.
Being a child of God over not being a child of God would make a person, being a child of God, one of God's favorites. Are any of you God's favorite????
I have seen that favorites always get special treatment. Are believers really getting special treatment over others?? I don't see it. Adversity seems to show up at everyone's door from time to time in life. If God does not give believers special treatment, are they really favorites at all??
I see things much differently. I don't see that it's all about good or evil, child of God or not child of God, favorites or discarded, These seem to be the creations of mankind. They say we are all created in God's image but all too often I see that people create the image of God into what they want God to be.
From a neutral stand, God can not have favorites. Further, if God is Unconditional Love. Our actions could not determine whether we were a child of God or not.
I see adversity or the challenges in our lives as a direction of discovery in the learning process. With this in mind, adversity and challenges must come to all, and since we are all at a different level of knowledge, our adversities and challenges can not all be the same.
Finally, God is supposed to be at a Higher Level. If the judge makes a divorced father pay for child support for his creation whether that father claims that kid or not, should not God also be responsible for God's creations too?? How can God be at a Higher Level discarding kids as not being God's children???
As I see it, religion comes with many beliefs and stories. I must have the Real Truth add up completely.

First God loves everyone. God has no favorites. You have to make the choice to become a child of God. Their is no special treatment. The rules are the same for everyone. either you choose to or not to. God does not make the choice for you.
As long as Evil is in the world their will be adversity and challenges. God makes no promise of a easy life here. Gods promise to all that choose to believe and become one of his children is to be able to spend eternity with him.
Mans law states that a man is responsible for a child that he fathers...So is the mother for that matter...Gods Law states that you have to choose to become one of his children...
From what i read that you are saying is that you want to live as you want to (which is fine you get that choice) but you are expecting special treatment for not following the rules.....

@bird123 God Created everything, If God was going to be responsible, and control everything then he would not have given us free will to make our own choices.
You get to choose to believe what you want to. Just like i am, I believe that the Holy Bible is the word of God. Fully inspired by God. The Bible contains everything from the Beginning to the end of the earth. The Bible is full of Historic, and Scientific information. It is also full of prophesies. Some that have already happened some that are happening now. The Bible tells us everything that we need to know.
We all follow and believe...I choose to follow and believe in the word of God...You choose to follow and believe what ever you want...
I live my life trying to live by Gods word.....You live your life by what you want.
I live with rules, and Laws, and consequences for ones actions... You are trying to live with no rules, no laws or no consequences.
wright or wrong we both will be judged by God some day when we leave this world. and we will either spend eternity with Him or without him. The Great thing is we each get to make our own choice..My advise to you is to choose wisely...because you do not get to come back (like you believe) and make a different choice....Keep searching maybe some day you will discover the truth....

dlr297 Is evil really the reason adversity and challenges exist. A thunderstorm came through the area and knocked out the electricity. Hmmm? Evil storm clouds??? I don't think so.
Shouldn't God be at a Higher Level than mankind and be responsible for His creations? I think so.
Your religion defines your actions through their rules, laws, and beliefs. These are not from God. They are creations of mankind.
God's system is running as it should. There is Genius behind everything. There is no need for special treatments for anyone. God's system is not what your religion is teaching. Each has the capability to discover God's system for themselves. This will take work and the desire to know and discover. Following and accepting will not get you there.

@dlr297 Ruling, Controlling, Judging, Condemning, Punishing, Intimidating, Coercing and etc. You will never understand God as long as you value petty things. You grasp so tightly, blind to anything else simply because your religion has taught you to value these petty things and Beliefs.
Beliefs have never ever been important to God. Beliefs are no more than a patch that covers the gap left by the missing facts. Without beliefs we would lockup just like my old computer.
Beliefs are easier. They require no effort to discover the Real Truth. Discover in every field comes through effort.
You sit in your box of Beliefs telling me to keep searching that someday I might find the truth as if you know the truth. Your Ego blinds you to so very much. There is an almost limitless amount of truth and knowledge to be discovered. It's laughable that you think you know it all. Yes, I WILL continue to Discover. I could never be satisfied with a box of Beliefs when the Real Truth exists.
You have no clue about God and the Masterpiece that this world really is. Since the truth does not fall within your box of Beliefs, you are Blind to it. There will come a time when Real Truth will become more important to you. You have a long road to get there.
Free your Mind. The Real Truth awaits Discovery by everyone. Nothing is hidden. You choose to limit yourself just to save work. That result will lead you away from truth.

@prinzcy Giving birth is in this physical world. We are Spiritual beings in our true natures just like God. I have direct experience to this. Who we really are has nothing to do with being born into a physical world. This physical world exists entirely to benefit us in the lessons we learn.
Our choices, actions and deed do tell God and the world what we need to learn. In the end, when we go to God, each will judge themselves. Each will be a much harder judge than God would.
You say that people just pray and hope that God will accept them. Does not seem that God would love at all that way. How could God be Unconditional Love with those conditions in place?
Mankind is the creator of all those religions. Mankind values petty things like Blame, Hate, Condemning, Judging, Ruling, Controlling, Intimidating, Coercing , and etc. God has to be at a Higher Level than that. Why? God has to be very intelligent just to be able to create it all. Valuing petty things will not prove to be intelligent in the end.
I think you and people are more valued and loved than you realize. This entire physical universe was created just for us. What is more important, any choice we make or the final result of our learning? See, it's never ever been about believing, following, or accepting. Life is the education of God's children which is us all. Since there is an unlimited amount of time in which to learn, everyone will reach great wisdom and intelligence through their free choices and what returns to us so we might discover what our choices really mean.
No matter what anyone says. God is Unconditional Love and given enough lives and time so will we be through our own choice.

I'm a Hindu.Hindu philosophy says that we all,including trees,animals,birds,insects are God's sons and daughters and so we all are His favourites.
