Home in the Boonies - From 30 years in the same house back in the big city, we finally made it to the interim place in the countryside of this nice part of south-central Texas. Above is a photo of our our new home) on Mesa Oaks Street. (Are you kidding, Gus?) The hard part of the whole deal consisted of the packing and the unpacking of all of the accumulated stuff from those 30 years of squirreling things away - like, "Better not toss this stuff away because you just never know when you might need (or want) it all." What a big mess, let me tell you. The lesson to be learned from all of this effort is, "If you can stay put, then stay put." Note: For some reason I am having a problem uploading the image. Will try again tomorrow... Image - The mansion

This was posted nearly a month ago and it seems you are pretty well settled now.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - What is a month 'twixt friends? Settled? From the look of things, another year might not be sufficient for that. Well, I need to take some of that thought back. Esther, my green-thumb bride already has her gardens going right nicely. Also, our grandkids, also here, have managed to bestow a "rescue" doggie onto us all. they have named him "Fenway" (after Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team (ny unfavorite baseball team...) I have re-named the mutt, "Freeway" which sounds like the right idea anyway. He has not made a bark or a sound now in two days. Wags the living daylights with his sturdy tail, however. Also, he eats like a starving hog. -Gus- March the 8th

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - I am having more fun than an old goat like me could ever wish to have. From my early days on earth I have been a big fan of the natural stuff - trees, critters, even people... This place has all of that. As to "Freeway," the rescue dog, I just cannot get over his total silence. In the now two days that he has been with us, not a sound out of him. Perhaps he is a mental telepathist or maybe he ran into a cat some time back that "got his tongue." Anyway, yesterday was quite an adventure in that my grandson-in-law and I cooked supper for everyone - and it was actually edible. No point in giving the stuff a name, however. It reminded me of the "home made" pancakes that my father made for us one time when all of the family kids were very young. He had bragged about how they would be. Then he served them to us kids. Then we played with them because you could not stick a fork into them. They were like armor-plated. Smelled good and looked great, but you just could not get to them. Anyway, as tlast night's supper plates received the stuff from the pots we produced, the great-grandkids ate their fill and only those of us who understood the food architects and constructors wrinkled our noses at it. -Gus-

@Ceerios I hope I'm wrong in getting the impression that perhaps you're not really happy there. Freeway sounds a great dog. Has he taken to going on 'walks' with you and your scooter? Some here sit their little dogs between their feet when they ride or in a basket.

Your image had a problem I will be glad to see it when I can. We did one of those thirty year moves. Actually it was thirty years for me and sixteen for this hubby but I had stuff from other kinfolk as well.

Hi! I've live in an urban area all of my life, I do enjoy nature and have taken every opportunity to commune with it. But I imagine one would feel a lot closer if one actually live in the countryside. It's hard uprooting oneself from a place where you have spend a lot of time. Nostalgic memories will arise until you finally settle down in your new home. That's one reason why you find it so hard to get rid of old stuff. You could have simply left them behind. BTW, you seem to be also having problems loading image.

@josie_ - Howdy Ms Josefina - Yes. The "countryside" is plenty nice. Here, the little deer come along, and the traffic noises are at a minimum. As to all of that stuff that accumulates, may it will also evaporate. Cannot find half of the things I need to find, however. What a mess. As to those images, it is a puzzle as to what is causing the problems. Tried severely downsizing the pix - no luck there. Changed the image formats. Again, no luck. Tried contacting the techies on MyLot. Waiting to hear. Take care, nice friend. Gus
