Houston, we have a problem

I have a big problem, and I don't know how I'm going to solve it. I played upright bass last night in a 3-hour gig. But I hadn't played bass in awhile (no callouses), meaning the the index and middle fingers on the right hand are toast.
Now we have a four-hour farmer's market gig this morning, and it's the same band, so I have to play bass again. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've read things like crazy glue, tape, etc. Am I going to duct tape my fingers?
I don't want to bleed all over my friend's bass and spend the morning in pain. Farmer's markets are usually fun, with kids dancing, and parents trying to herd their littlies up to the tip jar to drop in a five spot. Any suggestions?

Try Liquid Skin. You should be able to get it at a bowling alley. It's worth a shot.

@TheHorse it shouldn't take that long.most of those are dry soon after air hits it.

@scarlet_woman I wonder if it could survive those big ol' bass strings. Duct tape was an hilarious but effective solution.

I was helping my maid to separate pepper from their stalks and this resulted in my wrist acting funny. I called up my physiotherapist and he gave me some exercies and that solved the problem. Yours is a different thing. You may have to use some padding but suggest you do not give up that opportunity to bring cheer to those kids at the farmers' market

The lucky people. I bet you sound fantastic in the background. I would love to hear this! Erm I guess you are going to need something that will stay on and not fly off half way through your performance. Ducktape would certainly be strong enough! Good luck and I hope it stays on!

I would buy a box of the fabric band aids that are designed for fingertips. Barring that, could you wear leather thimbles, like quilters? Have I seen picks that fit over the fingertips? I do not know and nothing is open on Sunday.

It is hard for me to put my finger on that problem. If you can play with band aids on, a stop on the way to the gig might be worth it. This could get painful.

As a quilter, I can relate to sore fingers. I can't give you a magic cure. I just need to tough it out most of the time.

My dad used glue when it happened to him.
How is it being a psychologist?
