Do some people feel better if they let down others?

I wonder if some people feel better if they let down others. Yesterday I attained a sport event. I was optimistic to participate in many games and I did so. But what I found that the people who were handling the event were being so mean to the participants, even throwing them out of the team without any reason. I think the person with low self esteem feel better if he /she can let others down. What do you think? The photograph is taken by me.

I think this can happen if a person is suddenly given a little bit of power or decision-making when they aren't used to it.

These kinds of people do not want others to rise and succeed. They might have their own ulterior motives and their own favorites to choose from.

Right, because they were also participating in some games and they were giving preference to employees, even openly saying it and cutting others name from the team list.

Yes that is right, people who are themselves good for nothing, like to balance out their low self esteem through putting others down.
