Living With an Attitude of Gratitude Helps Overcome Depression

After moving far away from my family to a cold and dreary place, I found myself feeling depressed most of the time. I was miserable. I longed for warm sunny day's spent with loved ones. This went on for quite awhile.
One day I decided that I was tired of always feeling unhappy so I made a decision to make a list of every positive thing in my life. After doing that and reading my list over I realized that I was being very ungrateful for the good things going on in my life and focusing only on what I was unhappy with.
It was time to build a positive attitude. I stared by giving thanks for the blessings I had. Each morning I started the day naming my blessings and thanking God for each of them. Before long I noticed that my outlook was becoming more positive and I was finding my lost joy.
I still have some ups and downs but the ups are more prevalent. When I have a depressed feeling I go over my many blessings and I find myself feeling grateful and with that comes a smile on my face and joy in my heart.
