What triggers your memory

As I was scanning through posts here one post triggered me about paying our electricity bill which was due in a few days' time. Strange that a post at myLot should remind me about a chore I had forgotten.
That post was about facing old age and why that should have triggered this thing is beyond me. But I am grateful for that anyway.
What odd situations remind you of chores that you need to attend to?

I set a reminder and alarm in my mobile to remind myself of important tasks so that in case I forget my mobile should remind me.

@allknowing If you do not mind - I would like to suggest you to buy a smart phone for yourself. Smart phones are available in the range of Rs.6000 to Rs.20,000/-. If you decide to buy, you could be sure that it will have such functions/applications that it will act as your PA and will remind you about your bills/events and what not.
There is an application (Heptic) for smart phone - If you log into that application and ask them to find a nearby restaurant for you in the area, they will call you and inform you about it. They will even arrange to book tickets for you or will at least let you know the availability of tickets in a nearby theater.

@dpk262006 I am not that bad when it comes to remembering and also I am averse to upgrades.

That is strange, but hey, good thing it worked! Though I know what you mean, it happened a little differently for me today. I went to the store knowing I had to get something, but as I didn't write a list, I completely forgot what it was I was supposed to get. Eventually I thought of eggs, but knew that wasn't it . . . but then remembered my husband made eggs for my little son the other day because we did not have any more of the bagels he wanted . . . so aha - I needed to buy bagels!! Memory by association of something else .

Sometimes an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation will remind me to write something I've been meaning to write-about---be it 'the god-complex of possibly being a Q' or 'the pronunciation of "gigawatt" (which Lt. Commander Data pronounce with a hard 'G,' but Doc Brown infamously pronounces it "Jigawatt" in the Back to the Future-movies).
This may not be "the explanation you're looking-for," but it reminds me of 'Neuroplasticity'---the human-brain's way of forging new neuron-connections when old ones are broken (which saved my life when it happened to me!)
What you're talking-about though is more like 'memory by association'---I don't specifically know what you were thinking, but it's easy to imagine ... somebody probably posted something about how they need to hurry up to earn 'quota' before the 15th, in order to get the money to pay their utilities-etc. And you subconsciously applied that to yourself---human brains are subliminally sympathetic like that

Triggers that have absolutely no connection to that memory is quite intriguing.

@allknowing Reverse-engineering those memories, writers invent stories that--though they take place in some imaginary land (Atlantis, Olympus, Las Vegas, etc.)--they're actually about things that happen in real life---boy meets girl, fairytale wedding, sinister divorce, war ...

Even I get ideas reading through posts here but it is not surprising that they could also remind us of things to do as it happened in my case.

Reading a post about Valentine's Day and receiving balloons as a gift reminded me that I wanted to purchase some balloons yesterday. I wanted some balloons that I could blow up a small amount and put into my right shoe to cushion my right heel. I may have my husband buy me some tomorrow when we go to town.

I am not triggered by anything. I do myself what like.

When I'm being lazy for far too long and noticed that I have lost control about it. Or if when there's a visitor coming.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head right now. Oh there are posts that act as triggers

You must have nothing left to trigger having systematically attended to all your chores

@Daljinder That you have, not because you have forgotten but you have little time and I do not consider getting back to responses as a chore. It is a pleasant tet a te

When my true words are considered false by my closest people, it's so odd situation to me.
