Running for my date!

I had my date for Valentine's night at 9:30 pm. But work was crazy and we had a meeting sceduled for 7:30pm. I wasn't needed in the meeting but my boss suggested that I should stay and watch to learn about the new project. I think he also wanted the support. Anyway, I stayed and the meeting ended at 8:30 but I still needed half hour to go back home and then get ready for the date! While I was walking towards the subway, there were happy couples with flowers and gifts around me and I was running through them. I think some of them were looking at me with question in their eyes. I wanted to tell them that I am sorry but I was getting late for my date! Are you usually running late like me, or you are the first person to arrive at dates and meetings?

It's been a long time since I had a 'date' as such. Nowadays I am always on time. I can get really stressed if I think I am late for something.

I get very stressed too, that's why I am running constantly. I am so calm and relaxed when I am on time. It's a good practice to always be in time, I admire people who can manage their time with precision.

@JudyEv It's a way of life, to be on time for our meetings and tasks. Even with mylot, I am thinking that I have time to read one more discussion and then get ready for work. And then I am running late!

@besweet I don't have a very busy life so it is relatively easy for me to be on time.

Going early in meetings gives a good impression and you also have time to evaluate the environment. Even when I am trying to go early, I always arrive at the last minute.

I usually arrive early. I prefer not to arrive after everyone else. I find it sort of embarassing, as though I might have kept them all waiting.

Most of the times it happens with my boyfriend and friends. I feel bad too but it is hard to manage the time, I must be doing something wrong! It's best to arrive early and stress-free!

@besweet I think that in the example you mention, it was your boss who was in the wrong. He expected you to attend the meeting with no forwarning and on Valentines Day too!

@mysdianait he does that all the time. I thought he would be celebrating too so I didn't let him know in advance that I had plans. I should have told him earlier, once the meeting started it was too late!

On some meeting I would be early. But on meetings done at a time earlier than our dismissal like the gathering of our HS batchmates at a restaurant, I am always late by about 20 -30 minutes. But they understand why because I already tell them beforehand.

@besweet At least they are our friends not our business clients. But of course if they are business clients, I would go there 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. ha ha ha

@SIMPLYD Friends can understand the delay and they can be very patient, but I don't like to test their patience! Business clients are not so understanding so it is best to arrive early.

It is expected to be late if the meeting is during your working hours. I also let my friends know if they want to meet early. They find a place to sit and I meet them later.

Professional meetings are different, I am trying to be on time because I represent the company with them. But in my personal life I can't manage my time properly. Maybe I am trying to do everything at the same time. It's great thay you are on time, people are happier when we don't keep them waiting!

Yes I made it! He came to my house to pick me up so I was only 5 minutes late. I was super stressed though, I don't like getting stressed for time.

@Beatburn Traffic is a big problem here too. I use the public transport which is much faster unless the destination is very far from home. This time my boyfriend picked me up from home so he was the one who planned ahead!

@besweet I prepare way earlier. With the traffic here, everything we do should be adjusted at least an hour in advance.

That wasn't thoughtful of your boss. Our condo held a board meeting last night, but we didn't go. I'm either early or right on the dot! Hope you had fun!

Thanks, it was fun! And I ate my dinner without regrets after burning all those calories from fast walking! My boss should be celebrating too. I think he likes his job so much and he thinks that we all have it as a priority.

With meeting I am controlling my bad habit because I represent the office. But in personal dates, I have much work to do! Most mylotters are punctual and it's impressive! It's good to hear and it makes me motivated to become better. Thanks :)

I would like to be on time as well. I think I can't evaluate the amount of work correctly and it takes more time than I have estimsted. Also I plan everything with a tight schedule so if one meeting is late then everything goes behind.

I saw many couples celebrating even though it was Tuesday night. I thought that people would stay at home since it's a working day and in the middle of the week.

Oh I know how that feels! I have friends that come even later than I do in our meetings. I am controlling it with professional meeting, but the personal ones need improvement! Have you accepted his habit or you are complaining about him being late? I am curious because my boyfriend is always complaining..
