why cricket is not popular in US?

February 17, 2017 11:22am CST
For some people playing cricket is an obsession, it is a way of life, it is a passion. Others enjoy themselves watching cricket and the real fanatic has a passion for knowing cricket. Playing and watching do not seem to satisfy their quest for cricket. but that is not the case in few countries like CHINA, JAPAN, US, RUSSIA etc..

It's primarily played in ex British colonies so no idea why it isn't popular in the US. Most American sports aren't big over here either. Things like american football, basketball and baseball have their fans here but they're by no means massively popular here. Neither is cricket either really The big one is football and that is bigger than most other sports put together.

I think the answer is : Traditionally cricket has been Test cricket- 5 days, and One Day Internationals: 7 to 8 Hours. Now, even ODIs are a time consuming affairs. So these do not readily get other countries interested. However, I believe that T-20 has started getting popularity in countries which were not playing it initially and has the potential to gain market even in US.

US has its own games so surely they can't adopt to new things.
