Newbie's Guide: Anyone there?

I got to know about this website while searching where I can be paid for my creative writings. I am not very sure whether this is the place but at least I am sure I can have good discussion with people around the globe. And then the next thing stuck to my mind, will there be anyone to guide a newbie to become well acquainted with others? Is there anybody there?
