I am a teacher at a college. I like to be a teacher and I feel fulfilled to teach students and be their friends. But I really don't like the methods of management of the dean of my department. In my department, everyone wants to be free and leaves their work to others. The dean is very strict to the new fishes but never dare ask senior staffs. She would always says no when new staffs ask leaves even if they are sick, but she would allow senior staffs to go home when they want to deal with domestic affairs. I just can't stand with her. But I've been hesitating about resigning because everyone think it's a perfect job to a girl. What should I do?

It's not a happy situation. You have to gauge it yourself. seniority rules, even in my work, it's the culture. It's up to you if you want to stay, you might have to respect their culture even though it's very unfair.

I'm that kind of person who will always tolerate although I'm unfairly treated. But the truth is that they have no right to fire me most of the time or they'll be very troubled because of my employment type. I guess it's the reason I want to fight against the seniority rules and against my boss.

I wouldn't resign till I had something else to go to. If it is really easy to get another job then maybe you could resign but be very careful about resigning then not being able to find something else.

Yes. It's a perfect job to most of people especially to the elders in my family. I get months of paid holidays and it's not tired. If I quit, I'm not sure if I could find another job and I would also let my family down. Actually I like to be a teacher, I just don't like the work atmosphere in here.

Whoa, im kinda dealing with the same situation, except she's kinda hard on everyone, not just me. She's only been in 2 months. I wouldn't quit however because I love the job that I do, plus it's not worth walking out over something that I can't control. It's also been my experience that bosses like that usually don't last long, so best advice I can give is that if you like the job, or if you need the money badly, just hang in there

I guess I would't quit till I get another chance. I've never met a person like my incumbent boss. When I first came to the school to work, she was so enthusiastic and hospitable. But now, she is so hard on me although I never made a mistake. I guess peope all like to bully the new fishes.

@Guolinlin2017 sometimes that happens, I know that bosses tend to get mean when they are either suffering burnout, or gets put into a ñew situation they're not used to, so they don't really know how to handle it. Good luck and hang in there!
