Laptop Down!

Oh my, what a nightmare. I was ready to completely restore the computer. I don't know if I'm out of the woods yet, but I fixed the problem, I think. I ended up deleting Chrome so I could reinstall it. It was the reinstalling part that was the issue. Once I uninstalled the browser, I assumed Internet Explorer would open. It did not. It wasn't configured or something and all I found was a blank page that locked up when I tried to use it. So I was unable to reinstall Chrome and so I tried to restore the computer but I apparently have a corrupted C drive and my only option was to let the computer restart and repair. It restarted but never would repair. So I tried Internet Explorer again and this time it didn't freeze up and I typed Google into the tiny address bar on the blank white page and lo and behold it came up as a web page. I typed Chrome and got the page to install it, I did that and not only did it install it, but it installed my task bar too with all my programs. So after several days without my laptop, I'm back in business. So far so good. We'll see if it has the same problems of freezing up or not. I'm ready to just get a new laptop and be done with it. I have a love/hate relationship with this one.

I'm sorry to hear you were having such a hard time with your laptop. I'm glad to hear that it's finally up and running again. Hopefully it stays that way.

The computers are always a source of problems, even if we cannot do without them. I hope you are back in business.

I hope that you don't have to purchase a new one too soon. I try to keep my technology until I get so frustrated that I want to take a sledge hammer to it! LOL.

@Jeanniemaries I would try to get it fixed first. If that didn't work, time for new.

Looks like I'm good for now. I don't want to buy anything new until I absolutely have to.

I am sorry to hear about what happened to your laptop. How long have you been using it? Maybe it is already giving you a sign that it needs to be replaced.

Maybe, but it's about 5 years old but only been used maybe 3 1/2 to 4 years. All is resolved for now. If it keeps acting up, I will replace it with a Mac book.

I am not short of technology, but I love using my phone and laptop the best. I can limp along with my iPad or kindle Fire if I have to. But I'm out of sorts without a keyboard so that's why my laptop is essential. Trying to type with thumbs only on the phone drives me crazy.

I'm impressed with your computer savvy. I always have to call my son or The Geek Squad.

Did you run a system restore or a complete factory reset?

I was in the process of doing that (total failed ) and tried to reinstall Chrome one again and this time was able to find the pathway to get to the web page to do it. It's a good thing as my email was down and that affected some of my iPhone programs and so I spent all day resolving that. For now, things are working.

I am glad that your laptop is back. It is hard to be apart with your gadgets specially when you also get a bit of earnings there. I always pray to God to always protect my gadgets because I don't use it to play but to earn. God bless.

I only use mine to play, my earnings are next to nothing. But I like being online and it was frustrating to not be.

Over the course of the past 8 months we have purchased 2 new laptops. Our old one just gave up the ghost, although it still runs, neither of us have any patience to use it. We aren't quite sure how to dispose of it, there are so many files that can never really be deleted, so we've been told to hold on to it.

It can be so annoying when things like this happen! We are so dependent on our computers and have to have them up and running daily!

I have problems with chrome periodically. I've quit usuing it for the time being although I am using a look-alike something called cool nova or something like that. This one is named secure browser. I still use chrome for a few sites since my password is remembered on that one for one or two of them. I also like firefox, but that's not worked for me in a very long time. Even when I download it again it always says not responding and I can't get it to wake up.

I've used Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox all at different times. Chrome works the best for me right now.

It actually affected my iPhone today and I was all day resolving it. I hope I am back in business today. I was able to upload the purple cow picture on myLot tonight and realized it was my issue not myLot's issue.
