Wrote this long back. Felt like sharing on myLot too.
This morning my husband sent me a beautiful picture. The minute i opened my mobile and saw the picture i realized he had the same amount of anxiety and excitement as me to be a new parent to his little baby. It was a beautifully illustrated picture that perfectly describes the new parents' journey through pregnancy. The woman carries the baby in her womb and the man carries the baby in his mind. Yes this is absolutely true for the new generation of parents. The father may not carry the child in his womb or go through the never ending physical and emotional changes that a woman goes through, but he always has the baby in mind. He also has a hugely generous heart to understand what his lady love goes through as well.
Throughout my pregnancy my husband has been equally dreaming of his baby. He always talks to me about his baby's looks, his baby's behavior, his baby's dresses and many million little things that i exactly have in my mind. He always keeps reminding me that it's not just the mother who dreams about her baby, but the father too is always having the baby in his mind despite his busy and hectic workload. He never misses an opportunity to call me and ask whether i have taken my daily dose of prenatal vitamins or whether i am stuffing up myself every 2-3 hours. that is the least he can do when one is living thousands of kilometers apart. i personally chose to stay half of my pregnancy at my mom's place because this was my first pregnancy and i was unsure of what to expect, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. This meant that i had to stay away from my husband and in our case it meant we had to live in different countries and keep ourselves in touch with the help of technology.
He decided to do ALL of the baby shopping. He decided he knows best for baby. He never misses asking me what the baby is doing even though he knows the reply would be that either the baby is moving or the baby is not moving. He gets super excited when i have a scan or whenever i visit the doctor. He made sure he got in touch with all the pregnancy related terminology. He made google his best friend to get himself acquainted with the pregnancy lingo. He brainwashed my parents and in laws to feed me only good stuff. During my short stay with him while pregnant in initial stages, he has shown unlimited patience to listen my heart out and run to the markets at all odd times to satisfy my needs (read cravings). Never made me wash dishes or do the clothes. He made sure i was there with him until i completed my first ultrasound. He dint want to miss the first pictures and first heartbeat of the baby.
He is dreaming to be a daddy to a little girl because he believes a girl will bring him luck. But, i must say it is the little one inside me who is the lucky to be having such a wonderful daddy. The love daddy has for his little one just cannot be explained in words my little one. When my child grows up and reads these words he/she will understand that along with me daddy has also been pregnant. We, together have been pregnant. Daddy has made our pregnancy a memorable journey. We both are eagerly waiting for you to enter this world and fill our lives with happiness.
Come soon baby... Me and Daddy cant wait anymore :)

You have beautifully and aptly described how not only an expectant mother but how a would be father imagines, visualizes and make preparations for the unborn baby.
However, now you have become mother of a daughter, therefore, you have two people to take care in your life.
Our blessings and best wishes for your cute daughter.
