Today is the day...

February 20, 2017 3:45am CST
In my previous post i was talking about taking up a job to become financially independent. So, toward being that, i decided i should drive out all alone. Not that i dont know to drive, but i am terrified of parking the car incorrectly. Also, i have not been driving much in Australia. I never ever parked all on my own. Always, i ask my husband to park for me. (Being from India, im not used to parallel parking or 45degree parking) Today is the day i thought and off i went to the mall. I even took an extra step and even took my baby with me. Shopping with a 1 year old is definitely not easy but i was determined today. And off i went. All went well. I drove slowly and parked slowly. I parked well and perfectly. I was proud of myself. Completed the shopping and i was back home. Mission accomplished! I was the happiest person on earth. I realized we need to face our fears , however big or small, and not run away from it. I know its not so difficult to go out and drive. But to me it is the first time and hence this is a big achievement.

Of course it's an achievement. Big achievements are achieved by our self confidence and that comes only by achieving small things so its big for today. I love your line-"I realized we need to face our fears, however big or small, and not run away from it." I love it. So meaningful. Thank you for that. Have a great day!

It is lovely to read a post like this as I think we all face our own challenges and it's nice to see someone approaching theirs with such determination. I am actually facing a similar issue as I'm facing having to drive again after several years of not driving. Hopefully I can face my fears as well as you have done.

Surely you can drive. I think that fear is what is stopping us always. Just a step further and we can get a great deal of confidence by driving just once. U see after the first drive, i could take my daughter to the park with the confidence. And she was smiling like never before. Do let me know once u have finished that first drive.

My master told me once, When you are into training and face any problem or have any hitch, go after it, face it , kill your fear and beat it.

That's cool. I think you really are a brave woman and a wise wife and mother. Enjoy the new adventure. I bet you'll be driving more often even without your husband.
