Have you ever tried this fruit? Its one of my favorites. Its Sweet and Sour in taste, but not same as normal tamarind. It grows in Torrid Zone in srilanka and its a seasonal fruit....
"Dialium ovoideum is a tropical species of legume in the Fabaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka. The Sinhala (Sri Lanka) name ??? ?????? " (wikipedia)

I have not heard about pebble tamarind. I prefer not to take tamarinds as it does not suit me.

I love tamarind candies. This is another variety of tamarind. They differ in shape? It looks like it's not elongated and rounder than the usual tamarind. Do they taste a lot better?

We have tamarind growing here and when it is semi ripe that is the time we enjoyed eating it. I do not like sour things now as they do not agree with me
