I don't aim for the future. My aim is right now. Right now, I'm where 'God' (The Divine Force, Luck, Our Father, I Am, whatever-you-wanna-call-him) needs me to be.
I know that I could/can say that about 'any time in my life'---even times when I felt like I was 'planning to be something' or 'planning to be somewhere new' or when I was 'taking steps in the direction of those plans.' So I understand your thinking that "if we want to be somebody---if we wanna go somewhere ..." we have to have a plan.
(That's why Christians falsely say that "God has a plan" ... He does, but 'his whole plan' is "Look at what's going on, and see what someone should do to make it Good.")
You could say that's our main mission on MyLot---to both/either tell what's going wrong in our worlds and/or to gather help to make our worlds right

I always live for today. I have short term goals and some long term. If I am lucky I will reach some of the long term goals but while I'm at it, I am living for the moment. Short term goals or plans are to work on being more aware of the world I live in.

My time for future aim is long past. Right now I am content to be a writer and poet and blogger online. Hope your dream comes true.

All the best for your aim.
If you wish to be software engineer, start developing your interest in languages like C, C++, Java and some DB like SQL or Oracle.
It will help you in your college and later in your career.
The people who develop natural interest to programming are more successful.
