As I mentioned in my earlier discussion I home canned the chicken and a little turkey burger
@Marlina wanted me to write more about the homestead so I will.
I do home can what I grow and some of what I buy. I do grow herbs and I make my own flavoring and teas.
But late last night I knew I heard something while canning and it was what I thought. One of the jars busted in the pressure canner.
This is a mess!
So there you are @Marlina my mess in the photo to clean up.

We enjoy canning what we can for the future. Never canned any animal products and don't know anyone doing that. Do you have a service through the agricultural center near you that will do it for you?

@andriaperry Some areas of the country have a service through what might be called The Agricultural Extention. They will actually do canning in their locations for those with a ton of veggies, etc. ready to be processed. In one area, they have the owner of the veggies participate. Some are put in cans, not glass.

I have heard of canning fruits but never about chicken canning. This certainly is advanced canning if I might call it that Accidents happen.

@allknowing I dont but I am trying to give up one deep freezer so not to use the power, if I preserve my meats they will not require a freezer or to stay cold.

We used to do canning but then it got rough because we wound up with no gas stove just an electric one and now since we are just two we buy what we need and don't can anymore.

I have done a lot of canning over the years. I have never done anything with meat. I also have a home freezer that I have always put to good use.
Sometimes the cleanup after a day's canning can be overwhelming.
