Do you ever go out alone?

My husband has been working a 2nd job at a bar downtown for the past few months. One of my coworkers also has a 2nd job at a bar downtown.. a different bar. Another coworker owns a bar downtown.. not the same bar as the previous two.. I hear a lot about the downtown nightlife. Some of it's ridiculous, like people who get so drunk they pee in a sink. Some of it's scary.. like fights and shootings, etc.. But I hear a lot. It seems everyone goes downtown.. I haven't been downtown in about 15 years.. at least not at a bar downtown. For no reason what so ever, I really wanted to go out tonight. I tried to get a friend to go out with me but she couldn't tonight. Instead we might make plans for tomorrow night. Still, the weather was warm and I really wanted to go check out the scene downtown to see what all the hype was about. But I didn't want to do it alone! Right after hubby arrived at his 2nd job he texted me that he'd forgotten a few things. I asked him if he wanted me to bring them to him, and he said yes. So I got all dressed up to hit the bars downtown.. all by myself. I didn't do much. I stopped to see hubby, went to my coworkers bar just to say hi to her, and headed home within half an hour. I walked around a bit and looked into some of the bars.. most seemed pretty dead at 11:30 on a Friday night.. I guess Saturday is really the busy night down there. Tomorrow my friend and I are going to go to the bar my coworker owns.. she just opened this bar, it's like a wine and dessert place, so I'm going to check that out. After that we'll probably just go back to my friend's house and hang out and chat.. we haven't seen each other in awhile. At least now I can say I've been downtown, even if I didn't go to drink.. just walked around a bit by myself.

Hopefully you've satisfied the urge to go 'downtown' - at least for a while. It will be nice to go with your girlfriend tomorrow.

Probably.. It could be fun with a group of friends.. but my friends aren't interested in going downtown on the weekends. It's easier for me to find someone to go to bingo with!

Well I didn't really just go hang out at a bar alone, that would have been weird.

@GegeTheMechanic I used to go out alone all the time when I was younger. I knew people who went out so I'd always have someone to talk to while I was there, otherwise I'd just walk around the club or bar and watch people. I always had fun though..

I could not go to a bar alone as I am just to shy. Since I was old enough to go to bars and drink I can count on one hand the amount of times I have gone in one. My boyfriend pretty much lived at the bar when we first met. I really do not enjoy them. When I drink I just do and say stupid stuff that I just kick myself over for months afterwards. I like the sounds of the bar your co-worker just opened. It sounds classier and a nice place for people to go on a date.

Unless I have no other choice, I would prefer not to go out at night. Daytime is different, I could go just about anywhere. But at night, people can be really scary.

Yeah, I understand that. I was fine walking around downtown by myself, but my walk back to my car had me a little nervous.. and the drive home when drunk people are on the road, that wasn't fun either!

I was under the impression that Thursday nights are the busy nights for those that like to go out. It gives them a head start on their weekends. Although I wouldn't know since the bar scene isn't my thing either.

No, hubby worked this past Thursday and although it was a gorgeous day, he said it was really slow downtown.

There is no downtown where I live, When we were younger we would go to the next city that is big and stay over in a hotel and visit a few bars and restaurant. I haven't done that in years, If the girls wanted to do it I would be game....

Sounds like fun, but a more expensive night out than just having a designated driver bring you home..
