Two Words You Might Not Know

Have you ever repeated to a child, while counting his toes: “This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home, this little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none; this little piggy cried wee, wee, wee, all the way home?” There are probably different versions of this, I’m sure, but this is the version I’ve always heard. What version do you know? In any case, did you know that the big toes and little toes on your feet actually have names. The big toe is called a “hallux” and the little toe is called the “minimus.” I suppose the other toes have names also, but I haven’t found those names YET. Something FUN to know.

You always have some interesting facts and I have no doubt you'll find out the names of the other toes! Another version of the nursery rhyme is "This little piggy wanted some corn. This little piggy said 'where you gonna get it from?', this little piggy said 'master's barn', this little piggy said 'I'm gonna tell!', this little piggy said 'wee, wee, all the way home."

I just knew that someone would have a different version. That one is really cute.

I guess I never thought about the toes names before.

I never did either, but I read every morning and I almost always find something of interest. There are literally millions of things that I don't know yet, so I'm constantly learning new words and new facts.
