Ten Country Songs That Make Me Cringe: Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) (#6)

Happy first day of the week! Here comes another one of those songs from the world of country music that infuriate me, make me sick to my stomach, or any other way you wish to put it. There are songs I don't care for (I mentioned to @JolietJake earlier that I never cared for Foreigner, for instance), but these cross that line with me into disgusting. Here's the next one. #6: Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) - Big & Rich I haven't dealt with much of the modern "country music," for a simple reason: it's not country. These modern so-called "country" singers, to quote Little Jimmy Dickens, think that Ernest Tubb is a sincere place to take a bath. But this song is an exception (as is another forthcoming song). This song is beyond terrible. The title pretty much explains half of the problem. Give it a stupid title and you're going to get an audience. Worse, of course, is the music, that sounds more like a mellow AC/DC song than "country." This song started a lot of trends in country music. The trends reflect the song: bad. Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) Written by Big Kenny and John Rich Recorded by Big & Rich From Horse of a Different Color, 2004 Here's a rock song with "cowboy" in the title that sounds more country:
Outtake from Live and Dangerous at the Rainbow.

Thin Lizzy was one of the greatest rock bands of the 1970's. This is a great song by them. Granted they made much better ones. But don't knock rock music. Country music is not something I can deal with. That would drive anyone crazy.

@FourWalls Well, I am a rock head. I think Thin Lizzy was one of the greats. Too bad Phil Lynott is no longer with us. He was the brains behind that band.

I got to see both Thin Lizzy and George Strait (not at the same concert, mind you). I love both.

I had a friend who was a minister in the Metropolitan Community Church and he'd always say something like that. Thanks for the laugh.
