As a team leader I need to have confidence to lead a team. I lack in this area and I would just like some ideas if anyone has any to help me be more assertive and get the confidence to lead and not get walked all over.
has anyone ever tried anything to beat the dreaded lack of confidence?

@sarah2592 remembering word by word is not you want , i would say just write some keywords and each keyword should lead you to remember what you want to say

I usually know what i'm going to say word for word but it never comes out how I want it to and sometimes the point is missed.
I over think and care to much what the other team members think that's my biggest problem :(

@sarah2592 Great then. As you get more confidence in yourself i'm sure you will find it much easier to lead your team

I've long had a lack of self-confidence, but if I'm put in charge of something I actually understand and like, I feel pretty good about it and do fairly well at it. I think it's a matter of remembering you're good at a particular job and then sharing that knowledge and know-how with those you're working with. It's not foolproof, but as with anything, you never show fear. They can smell it!! LOL Honestly, though, remember what you're good at with the job you do and make sure that you share knowledge and help rather than simply being in charge and the boss.

I am sure a lot of people have that problem.
You being a Team Leader do you meet up with other Team Leaders in whatever you might be doing?
Difficult one for me as I am not a Leader of anything but I would talk to someone at least one of them see if you can confide in them and get some tips from them as to how to and all that.
Or is the problem something else?

I work for a private care company and there is only 6 of us as part of the team, I basically just need to lead meetings in a confident way, getting the point across and being discrete in the way I discuss issues that are raised by others.
I think my main problem is that I doubt myself too much and care too much what people think about me.

I found that I needed to plan that kind of thing out and take notes positive ones with images of different kinds to help end stop my left leg from shaking.
I was teaching English to a group of Business men the big ones the chiefs i mean and they were very impressed.
I would not do it now as I have lost the love for doing that.
Caring for what people think about you is a problem a lot of us have.
For example I would never have been a good Nurse because I care too much.
Its complicated yet so easy.
DonĀ“t give up you have to keep trying to find ways to work on that problem and grow in confidence with it.
It might take a long time but I would not give up. Chin up gal I really think that you can do it.

@lovinangelsinstead21 well thank you I'm sure if I put my mind to it, it will go well :)
I am an almost nurse I do a lot of what they do in my job role the fact that I care too much and am very passionate about the care given has got me in to the management role sooner than I ever thought. I'm sure the rest will become better as time goes on.

I think that often confidence just takes time. in the meanwhile, are you able to fake the confidence? good luck!
