She only contacts me when she wants a gift!

I have discussed this person before, the woman who is married to my husband's son. We started a savings account for the two kids mostly due to the fact we were told to pick gifts from pre-set lists. The last time she contacted me on Facebook was to say thanks for that (back in December). Have not heard from her again - until today's message.
"just wanted to tell you I'm sending you an invitation to "XYZ's" baptism. I know you can't come but it's a cute photo."
See, it's gift time so she is making her connection with me. Well, she's begging up the wrong tree. We gave them a very 'healthy' gift when she was born, that should cover it.
I hate being used and she is making me angry.

I really hate that too, when you only hear from people when they want something. Like graduation announcements aka send me a gift from kids you've never met and whose parents you barely know.

Young people now days are so much this way. It's all about money with many of them.

Don't answer with a gift. It reminds me of the time some "quote" friends invited us to their son's high school graduation and seriously, we had never been formally introduced to this son! He didn't know us at all. I just ignored it and did not send a gift. I really do not like people who only call you when they want something.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, this is a good idea, as you cannot go there, an empty card is the best.

I can relate to 'so/so only contacts, when so/so needs/wants something" as well.... I'd love to rant but I don't want to write about it publicly
That is very rude of her to only contact you when she needs something.

@AbbyGreenhill that isn't good
Well hope she evenly distributes money to her kids and not all to her if she does spend

That's how she is - very money oriented. She spends it faster than they make it.

Maybe just accept the photo as a gesture and ignore what the mom and dad might be thinking about a gift. One gift is enough.

Believe me, after all these years I've learned to ignore most of his family and some of my own!

@Jessicalynnt We get a 'family' photo card Christmas and usually one of the boy on his b-day. We've never been recognized on grandparents day.

@AbbyGreenhill yeah, well, mass posting isn't you know, printing off a few and dropping them in card for you a couple times a year, on like mothers day, grandparents day, random days, etc
