Good morning, good afternoon, good night.
I'm having breakfast, lunch,, dinner... tea, coffee,
a bath, a shower...
I was at work, going to work, in the bathroom ...
What is it with all of the posts that look like a status from Facebook?
There is nothing to discuss and nothing to 'like' either
This is myLot and NOT Facebook!
Here we post something which other Lotters can then DISCUSS.
Please understand that or there will soon be no advertisers here and then where will the money come from to pay us?
Did you click the wrong button?
Or maybe you never use Facebook (and in that case maybe you should )

I have no FB account, but it is a good idea, and I post my status on your discussion : "I have been hurt at the left leg by a scooter on Monday, and I felt on the pavement today, hurting my left knee. Streets are too dangerous, be prepared to see me more often here."

Then we would have something to discuss though. Like what caused the scooter to hit you and was the pavement wett and did people come to your aid or turn the other cheek or whatever.
Did that really happen? If it did then it'll be good to see more of you and I hope your left knee will not hurt sitting down to type

@mysdianait Yes, and in my street : the scooter came behind me on the pavement, and today I tripped on a security fence which was down on the pavement in front of a high school and I felt : I am an indirect victim of terrorism. There is nothing broken, but bruising, I will see tomorrow if I can still walk. Bad luck.

@topffer Oh I am so sorry and I hope your injuries will soon be a thing of the past
Now, when our friend gets here, I'm sure she would suggest that you should have been looking where you were going rather than watching the school girls... so she will have to think of something else because i said it first

This is the very reason why I often go quite a while between posting discussions. There is little point in trying to formulate something and depending on a few friends connecting on it as a favour. I prefer to wait until I have something to say.

@mysdianait The old Mylot days saw many puerile posts such as "Do you have a computer" etcetera, which prompted the admin to declare that such pointless questions were contrary to the rules.

If moreof the newer Lotters realised that then those 'status' type posts would become a thing of the past. I don't remember that we had so many on the 'old' myLot and most of them are pointless now as there is nothing to discuss there. I see that some post them every single day as soon as they log in and before signing off!

@Asylum Yes and I remember the countless polls which were promptly removed too in the old days. There are many of those now too which seem not to see the hammer.

I check the 'recent posts' regularly and they appear there as soon as they are submitted. Recently there have been far too many! Admin removes them quickly too

Go right ahead! You would have at least two responses and I'm sure that the scent of your flowers would atttract many more too and THAT would be a status post that everyone would be interested in for sure!

@mysdianait Nice scented flowers for breakfast? And in the shower? Now that's going to get 1000 likes.

This is why I do not post every day. I am sure that nobody is interested to know what I had for breakfast and what I am doing each morning when I wake up. May be we can find something to discuss around a breakfast, ONLY IF the post is written not like a personal diary, but... a discussion.

Exactly!
It is those that are just like a status post with absolutely nothing to talk about that are beginning to drive me crazy! They appear one after the other and even someone with the most vivid imagination would have difficulty in stretching them into a discussion

@mysdianait Those "diary posts" are increasing. What should we say to someone who writes "I had a good night, now I am up, I had my coffee and soon I go out to work"... ????

@shaggin A title does not always reflect what is in the post itself. Some of the posts with 'good morning' as the title are totally differnt from the ones I am referring to here and they give us a lot ot things to discuss and I'm sure yours was one of those!

I opened some recently just to see what there was to discuss and what did I find? A big nothing at all
They are never in the 'no responses' list though

Very interesting post.
You see when status like Good morning and Good afternoon are posted like Facebook, I also sometimes wonder whether it is mylot or Facebook.
However, the problem is other users reciprocate Good morning greetings and forget that it is not a subject to discuss.

@mysdianait These are not ''easy'' but ''too easy'' posts. Yes, you are right that in these kinds of posts there is nothing to discuss, nothing to chew, no juice to extract.

And if anyone is going talk about their breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, coffee . . . the least they could do is at least OFFER some to us . (Ok, well some actually do offer ). I mean sheesh, let's show some manners people .
I am breathing. Shall we try to discuss that?

Gosh the Los Angeles area has so many problems. What with the dam, the gas leak and the threat of an earthquake... aren't you scared living there?

@mysdianait It looks fresh, but no guarantee that it's unpolluted (this is Los Angeles after all). We are near where there was a gas leak like a year and a half ago. The thing is this gas couldn't be seen. People actually got sick. We may not be in the immediate area, but with things traveling in the air constantly, you just never know what may lurk anywhere.
To those good morning and good night posts, we say "good grief".

I wonder if it's mostly the newbees who do that ***scratching my head*** a lot of them post a one liners that're so unappealing they never get a response.
I find it amazin that someone could post while on the pot takin a leak .... ok, I exaggerated but what you said is soooo true.
I remember how many used to do that on Bubblews, it was really bad there and what amazed me is people would respond with stupid things like "Good post" or something of that sort, I used to laugh.
Were you ever on Bubblews?
