Early Morning Fog

Lake at Durand Park in Freehold, New Jersey
United States
March 1, 2017 12:01pm CST
I leave for work 2 hours before the office opens and since it is only a 25 or 30 minute drive it gives me time for detours. I often get side-tracked on my way to the office; whether it is to take a walk or maybe do some shooting. The image shown here was taken on a day that started out quite foggy. I live a few miles from the ocean and the fog was quite thick when I left in the morning. As I headed west towards the office the fog lessened but was still noticeable. I decided to stop at a park just a few miles from work and see if I could get a decent shot of the fog hanging over the lake. I ended up with this one. What do you think? Was the detour worthwhile?

Oh yeah. The detour was absolutely worthwhile. It wasn't the first, nor was it the last time I detoured on the way to the office. Sometimes it was a bust and others were great.

@WanderPhotog Having more time before you go to work is ideal as you never know what you might get to see.

I love having time in the morning to do it. People ask why I leave so early when I don't have to - I point to photos like this one.

@Maezee - Yes, I did take that photo. I am glad you like it. I have been shooting fog for a while - there aren't a lot of opportunities so I shoot when they arise. this is one of my favorites.
