I hate people who talk at the movies!

March 1, 2017 1:01pm CST
I tend to be a very calm man, but this is definitely one of the situations that really can make me nervous on a level that sometimes I don't even know myself. Is it so difficult to understand that inside the cinema ins't the place to talk - sometimes even very loud - all the time? Sometimes I think this is a utopia of my mind... Am I the only one?!

It really gets under my skin as well. I remind my kids all the time to keep quite. Kids need to be reminded by their parents to keep quiet and the adults who who can't keep quite should know better!

You are right. My brother told Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward to shush. They sat in front of him. They moved to the end of the row.

I hate that and worst, they're talking about spoilers. I don't need to know how the movie end. I want to be surprised. If I want to know how the story goes, I'll search for it before watching it. Usually Wikipedia is really updated. There's another type that feel the need to use the phone in the cinema. That's also annoying.

Even if m not bugged about people talking in cinemas, spoiling the movie for us is a completely different question. For those kinda people, I think we're gonna need to carry atleast 1 bag of tape when we go to the movies!

This is among the reasons why I don't patronize cinemas anymore. At home I can talk to myself all I want without disturbing anyone else.

I not only hate people who talk inside cinema halls, but I hate it when they put on cellphones , that light is so disturbing. I am fine with hooting or claping or whistling, but talking for no reason and disturbing others is so disgusting.

Don't you think children deserve to know how the real world is?

@avi256 when you speak of natural instincts, I'm presuming the child to be quite small. I'm not sure it's a good idea to abandon that small of a child when you go to the movies

@jesroash Sure they should know , but not at cost of others disturbances, and at the place where silence is expected off everyone. As a cinelover, I would never take small child with me and expect child to be quite which is against his/ her natural instincts.

That is probably one the most annoying things when you go to a movie. Why do they even go to the movie if they can't keep quiet long enough to listen to it?

Why do people also bring small children who cannot keep quite, when they are aware their child cannot keep quite at all.

Trust me!!! It's incr3dibly hard to deal with those people but you just have to let it go. It might be an inside joke or something and that's the time of their lives they are enjoying. Yes, they shouldn't disturb others but we do the same many times when we are with our friends and family and probably never notice it.

No, I am definitely with you on this one, but it's not in the theatre that annoys me... it's in the living room when hubby decides that he just has to tell me something just when the movie/tv show gets to a good part. He doesn't even seem to notice when I don't respond lol!

I haven't had it happen too often - probably because I don't go to the cinema too often. But it is certainly annoying and very rude.

You are not the only one. I hate that not only in a cinema but also at home in my home country when relatives talk to me while I am watching a very interesting movie from the TV. I shshsh.....them and ignore what they said to me.

I always hated going to the movie theater and somebody in front of us and behind us would talk during the movie. We paid money to see the film and if they did not they should have gone outside to do their talking. I was there to see the movie and not listen to them yack the whole time.

I really hate it when people talk inside the cinema. What's more annoying is that sometimes people bring their kids in the cinemas and they create a commotion. It's very disturbing and you just cannot concentrate

That drives me crazy as well. Usually is why I rent Redbox movies or generally avoid the movie theaters!!!

I get nervous when my child talks in the movie theater, which is one of the reasons (along with the high cost of movies) that we do not go to the movie theater more than once or twice a year. She does not talk often, but I have always encouraged her to ask a question if she does not understand something, and I have learned over the years that how we as adults perceive things is not how children necessarily perceive things. Having learned this, I would rather her ask questions rather than draw her own incorrect conclusions about things. She does whisper when she asks, though, so I think it is probably fine.

I get annoyed with this just being at my home and someone is talking over something I am trying to watch! I would get mad if I had paid for the movie and someone was loud.

You are not alone. Everyone of us hate people who talk a lot at the movies.
