It is essential that your handwriting should be legible to read. We cannot carry computer every time to sign papers or scribbling shopping items. Still we are thousand years behind before we can do everything by machine.

I have worked in the medical field and the worst handwriting I have ever seen is a physicians. Yes handwriting needs to be practiced. Writing by hand is a way of communicating and if people cannot read what you are saying, you will not be understood.

Handwriting is also an art form and it seems to reflect our personalities, and our culture. I wouldn't give this up for anything. Students should definitely keep studying this. I keep hearing things about the Chinese and Japanese talking about switching to a purely romanized system of writing, and although I don't think it will really happen, I am saddened by it. Keeping our traditions and our culture is especially important now that the world is becoming to close knit. Although we have better relations and easier access to other countries, and this is a good thing, I do believe that we still need to retain our culture and preserve it for future generations. Culture is a beautiful thing.

definately..handwriting still serves many purposes and I think its a shame that ppl are far more inclined to type things (letters, school reports etc) on the computer...especially letters, its so impersonal to me...plus it (writing) is good for your brain etc

I think it's still important to practice handwriting in the computer age, because you are still going to have to write somethings without the use of a computer.
