Did you know, That Cows kill more than five times the number of people that sharks do? "Deliberate Attacks on People. In the United States, the CDC estimates that about twenty-two people are killed by cows each year, and of those cow attacks, seventy-five percent were known to be deliberate attacks. One third of the killings were committed by cows that had previously displayed aggressive behavior." as of Mar 12, 2015 So If a cow murders people as they suggest here.... DO you think they have a MOOOOOtive?

I'm sure if sharks were in close proximity to us as cows are on a daily basis (how often do you see cows vs sharks?) the the numbers would get more interesting. I see cows far more often than sharks (not a lot of sharks in mountains). And with cows I at least see them in the open. The terrifying part of sharks is not seeing them.

but sharks are actually near people a lot more frequently than most people know about.. but they often do not harm any one. Or If they do and it's not a kill.. then it didn't make this list.. lol

@minx267 I'm aware of that (I've watched the shark week videos that show sharks around people all the time, and I've run into them myself while swimming), I'm just saying that we're not in the ocean all the time. A farmer might never be, but he's surrounded by cows! How many farmers are there in the world? How many people swimming in close proximity to the man eaters, and so on. I'm not picking a fight or anything, just saying that it's difficult to mesh numbers on two very different animals. :P

Hmmm, that is interesting. My grandparents were dairy farmers..ocassionally a cow would kick..but that was the extent of it. They always scared me as a child because they were so big, my grandfather was nice to the cows though and they liked him..

Lol I guess if they are aggressive they could have a moootive ha ha. I did not know this about cows as they usually seem so gentle. I would have assumed the deaths were accidents from walking behind the cow etc.

@minx267 oh okay well that would make sense as all animals are protective of their young usually and honestly that is a good quality that I wish all human parent had...Most do but not all. And bulls can be very mean. My boyfriend was almost killed by one they raised when he was a teen.

I just read that in Britain.. i think it was that the cows that were killing people were mostly mothers with calves in fields that people had access to and some bulls.

@shaggin wow. I don't hang out with cows often enough. or sharks for that matter to get almost killed by either of them.. NOW my dogs on the other hand... they almost trip me daily!

Yes, I know, here in Switzerland we have several accident with cows every year, but most of the time those to blame are humans. Cows kill to protect their calves.

Yes, "Accidents" like that involving animals is generally the fault of a human who doesn't pay attention or is ignorant.

@minx267 So true, sometimes noisy tourists approach the calves and the cows do not really appreciate that.

We have a cow and it is not violent but friendly nature. Buffalos are more violent than cows.

That's good I am sure a lot of cows. especially if hand raised from a young calf are very friendly.. and I know buffalos are tough. I wouldn't want to be to close to them

You are right, I would be more scared of a goose than a cow. I might have to rethink that.

I grew up on a farm and learned early you don't turn your back on the cows. One of them hit me and lucky I didn't get hurt badly.

@Fishmomma Yes, it is. I think that some people get into the field and don't do it truly for the enjoyment of helping the animals. They are money hungry. I like to see the vets that are showcased that go out of the way to do what the animal needs and are still always in a good mood and upbeat.
