Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was released by the New York Jets on Thursday.
Marshall, 33, has played in the National Football League since 2006 as a fourth round draft choice out of Central Florida University by the Denver Broncos.
Marshall has played wide receiver for the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears and New York Jets.
One of the reasons the Jets released Marshall was due to the fact that the Jets will be in a rebuilding mode in 2017 and due to the salary cap they do not have pay Johnson his $7.5 million salary for this upcoming football season.
Marshall has never played on a football team that has gone to the playoffs and one team that is interested in acquiring Johnson via the free agent market is the Baltimore Ravens.
With the retirement of Steven Smith Jr at the end of the 2016 football season, the Ravens feel that Marshall would fill the void of the retirement of Smith in the 2017 football season.
