The Clearing in the Pines -
Where the deer like to lay up during the sunshine hours of the day - the little clearings amid the tall pine trees and the underbrush.
About the only thing that gets into these small clearings are the sun's warm rays, and, of course, those resting deer. There are no deer hunters around-and-about to bother the deer, Although there are numerous dogs and people in the area, they are restrained from these clearings by the tall metal fencing surrounding the pine tree-covered acres.
Right at this moment, there is nothing to see in this clearing other than that patch of sunlight-dappled ground. No deer this time, but maybe tomorrow.

I can just imagine a doe and her fawn resting in the clearing.
We have a small patch similar to that in the woods next to our house. Each year now for several years we've had a doe use it as a nest when she has fawns. Our dogs bark at her, but she knows they can't get outside the fence and ignores them.

@Hatley - Ms Patsie - That makes two of us. Actually, the folks around here are mindful of their doggies, the little ones and the big ones, too. This area is both interesting and a nice place in which to live. Our aim is to save our pennies for the next year or two and then obtain some acreage so as to have several houses on it, plus one or two fishing ponds stocked with catfish and the like. -Gus-

@PeeWeeGS182 - Derek - The kids took the deer out to play, and the critters never came back. Gus
